5 awesome reasons to start a pregnancy blog

pregnancy blog

There are so many different reasons people write blogs. Some people start blogging because they want to share their love of fashion, photography or travel. Others spend hours tapping out recipes and healthy lifestyle tips for their readers. There are also the book, TV and game lovers who want to share their reviews and opinions online. Blogs focussing on current issues, politics and lifestyle are easily found floating around the internet – there are even blogs solely about blogging! Like thousands of other bloggers out there, I write about family life and parenthood. I started my blog when Leo was 19 months old back in March 2015 and I am still loving every second of it. After becoming pregnant with my second child at the beginning of this year my blog has grown from just a family lifestyle blog and is now a pregnancy blog too. View Post

A letter to my social life

dear social life

Dear social life,

Where did you go? I miss you. I’ve been searching for you for the last few years and I can’t find you anywhere. Where are you hiding?

We used to get on so well, I don’t know what I did for you to leave me in the lurch like this? Remember all those times when I was a teenager? Me and you were thriving then, you got me out of the house most days, filled my life with friends and fun. Do you remember all the nights out you were responsible for? All the hours spent dancing and laughing and all the headaches and head in the toilet moments that followed the next day? I miss those days, although I will admit I don’t miss the hangovers. 24 weeks pregnancy update

24 weeks

Welcome back to another pregnancy update, these weeks are just flying by! I am now 24 weeks pregnant and baby is now officially viable. If for some reason I was to give birth now, doctors would do all they can to help baby survive. Fingers crossed nothing like that happens though, I am happy to wait out the full 40 weeks of pregnancy. So, here is what has been going on with me and bump over the last month and how I am feeling at 24 weeks pregnant.

Me before you, JoJo Moyes – A book review

Me before you book review

Before Me before You became the must see romantic film of 2016, it was a beautifully moving novel written by JoJo Moyes. Me before You is a love story like no other I have ever read and although a tearjerker at heart, the comical moments and lovable characters entwine together to  make this book a really enjoyable read. Dressing the bump for Summer 2016 – A wishlist

maternity wardrobe

So the Great British Summer is here (apparently) and it is pretty clear that there is no way I am squeezing my ever expanding baby bump into any of last years summery outfits. All the pretty vests tops, little dresses and those high waist shorts I wore to death last year will be staying hidden away in the deep dark depths of my wardrobe this summer – and don’t even get me started on all my bikinis *sob*. Although I am a bit sad I can’t fit into these clothes anymore, I am overjoyed to have a baby growing in my belly and what a great excuse to go shopping for a whole new wardrobe. Finding nice maternity clothes can be a bit of a challenge as sometimes they just look a bit frumpy but I have found some really lovely outfits in the Dorothy Perkins sale perfect for the – hopefully! – warmer Summer months.  View Post

Fabulous footwear by Chatham

Chatham review Naptime Natter

Who doesn’t love a bit of retail therapy every now and then? Since becoming parents, Oli and I don’t really go out of our way to spend money on ourselves anymore. After we have spent a small fortune on bills, the food shop, petrol and general life, there is not always much left over to fund a shopping spree. Whatever spare cash we have is usually spent on doing things for Leo, spoiling him with new toys and going on adventures. If we had the money, I would love to treat myself to a brand new summer wardrobe, full of pretty maternity clothes all bursting with bright summery colours. Oli does not get so excited by shopping, so the idea of spending any disposable income on clothes does not appeal, however, he has been talking about buying himself some new shoes for a while now but we keep spending money on other things. This is where Chatham, a Great British footwear company, came to my hubby’s rescue and he finally got some brand spanking new shoes, without having to even set foot on the local High Street. Result! Could my second pregnancy be turning me into a bad Mum?

Second pregnancy Naptime NAtter

Being pregnant the second time around is so much harder than I ever expected it would be. I am, of course, over the moon that we are having another baby and that Leo is going to be a big brother, there are just times when I feel a bit overwhelmed. The fact that in a few short months a newborn will be joining our family and things are going to change (big time!) really does stress me out sometimes. Things are already starting to change now and baby hasn’t even arrived yet. Being pregnant and having a very energetic two year old don’t really work together harmoniously, there have been times in the last 23weeks where I have worried that my second pregnancy is turning me in to a bad Mum. Making my home beautiful with Zoflora

Zoflora review - Naptime Natter

The first thing you need to know before reading this post is, I hate housework. Any type of hoovering, washing, cleaning activity I just can’t stand. I like to live in a clean house yes, I just really dislike the task of actually cleaning it. As I share my home with my husband, son and a cat it would be unfair of me to let it deteriorate into a disgusting pit. There are just so many other things I would rather spend my time doing than mopping the floor and cleaning the bathroom..again. Anyone else with me on this? Anyway, when Zoflora, a company selling concentrated disinfectant, contacted me to see if I would review some of their products, it was the kick up the backside I needed to get my home in order and have a very belated Spring clean. So I armed myself with cloths, mops and gloves and got to work on my home using Zoflora, here is how I got on.. View Post

Is it the terrible twos or is he just naughty?

Terrible twos

Any parent out there will know what the terrible twos are, right? Oh you know, it’s that phrase used to describe the idea that when your child wakes up on their 2nd birthday they suddenly become a complete nightmare and will throw tantrums and act like a demon until they turn three and suddenly they become little darlings again. Many parents will agree with me when I say this, what a load of crap! The terrible twos can start way before your child hits 24 months and can, unfortunately, last way longer than just a year. I have written about my experiences of tantrums before and how I really struggle to cope when Leo’s being naughty. Leo is approaching 3 and his bad behaviour shows no sign of slipping away, if anything, it’s getting worse. I am starting to wonder if his behaviour is not just a result of the dreaded terrible twos, what if it is something more? What if my boy is just, well, naughty? View Post

5 things you notice on a night out when you’re pregnant

Pregnancy meme

I love a good night out and by night out I mean an evening out of the house with friends than involves lots of chatting, dancing and, of course, a gin or six. Being 22 weeks pregnant and already a mum to a two year old, my nights out are extremely rare, and the nights like the one I describe above are now just a happy yet some what blurry memory. Read me a story review

Read me a story Naptime Natter

When you spend all day every day with your child, it can be easy to take some of the wonderful every day moments for granted, can’t it? A giggling baby in his highchair at breakfast, a silly toddler playing hide and seek or sleepy cuddles with your little one while reading a book at bedtime, sometimes life gets in the way and we don’t cherish these moments as much as we should. As a stay at home mum I am so lucky I get the chance to experience these moments every single day, some parents/relatives don’t get have this option and would love to be a part of these daily routines. For family members who want to be there but can’t,  Read me a Story is a wonderful new website that is helping to bring families closer together for story time, no matter where they may be in the world.

The ultimate Father’s day gift guide

Father's day gift guide

It is Father’s Day on June 19th and, although it is not all about the gift, I’m sure most you are looking to buy your Dad a little something to show him how special he is. I don’t know about you, but the men in my life are rubbish when it comes to giving ideas for gifts they may like. I’m always met with the same response of either ‘I don’t want anything’ or ‘I don’t care’. It can be so frustrating, especially when you don’t have a clue what to buy and you really want to treat them.  For anyone else who has a Dad or husband declaring they don’t want anything for Father’s Day (and I’m betting secretly that they do!) I have put together the ultimate Father’s Day gift guide to try and give you some inspiration. View Post

Club Hub – The new app all parents need

Club Hub

In July, a brand new phone app is being released in the UK and, if you are a parent, you are definitely going to want this on your smart phone. Club Hub is an app that helps parents find groups and activities that are going on in their local area and, if you run a group, it is a great way to advertise your business too.

Ever since moving to Hampshire I have struggled to find groups for Leo and I to join. I go to a couple of parent and toddler groups and I even brave a weekly bouncy castle hour with Leo at our local leisure centre but I can’t help but think there must be more going on? View Post
