The first thing you need to know before reading this post is, I hate housework. Any type of hoovering, washing, cleaning activity I just can’t stand. I like to live in a clean house yes, I just really dislike the task of actually cleaning it. As I share my home with my husband, son and a cat it would be unfair of me to let it deteriorate into a disgusting pit. There are just so many other things I would rather spend my time doing than mopping the floor and cleaning the bathroom..again. Anyone else with me on this? Anyway, when Zoflora, a company selling concentrated disinfectant, contacted me to see if I would review some of their products, it was the kick up the backside I needed to get my home in order and have a very belated Spring clean. So I armed myself with cloths, mops and gloves and got to work on my home using Zoflora, here is how I got on.. View Post
Any parent out there will know what the terrible twos are, right? Oh you know, it’s that phrase used to describe the idea that when your child wakes up on their 2nd birthday they suddenly become a complete nightmare and will throw tantrums and act like a demon until they turn three and suddenly they become little darlings again. Many parents will agree with me when I say this, what a load of crap! The terrible twos can start way before your child hits 24 months and can, unfortunately, last way longer than just a year. I have written about my experiences of tantrums before and how I really struggle to cope when Leo’s being naughty. Leo is approaching 3 and his bad behaviour shows no sign of slipping away, if anything, it’s getting worse. I am starting to wonder if his behaviour is not just a result of the dreaded terrible twos, what if it is something more? What if my boy is just, well, naughty? View Post
I love a good night out and by night out I mean an evening out of the house with friends than involves lots of chatting, dancing and, of course, a gin or six. Being 22 weeks pregnant and already a mum to a two year old, my nights out are extremely rare, and the nights like the one I describe above are now just a happy yet some what blurry memory. View Post
When you spend all day every day with your child, it can be easy to take some of the wonderful every day moments for granted, can’t it? A giggling baby in his highchair at breakfast, a silly toddler playing hide and seek or sleepy cuddles with your little one while reading a book at bedtime, sometimes life gets in the way and we don’t cherish these moments as much as we should. As a stay at home mum I am so lucky I get the chance to experience these moments every single day, some parents/relatives don’t get have this option and would love to be a part of these daily routines. For family members who want to be there but can’t, Read me a Story is a wonderful new website that is helping to bring families closer together for story time, no matter where they may be in the world.
It is Father’s Day on June 19th and, although it is not all about the gift, I’m sure most you are looking to buy your Dad a little something to show him how special he is. I don’t know about you, but the men in my life are rubbish when it comes to giving ideas for gifts they may like. I’m always met with the same response of either ‘I don’t want anything’ or ‘I don’t care’. It can be so frustrating, especially when you don’t have a clue what to buy and you really want to treat them. For anyone else who has a Dad or husband declaring they don’t want anything for Father’s Day (and I’m betting secretly that they do!) I have put together the ultimate Father’s Day gift guide to try and give you some inspiration. View Post
In July, a brand new phone app is being released in the UK and, if you are a parent, you are definitely going to want this on your smart phone. Club Hub is an app that helps parents find groups and activities that are going on in their local area and, if you run a group, it is a great way to advertise your business too.
Ever since moving to Hampshire I have struggled to find groups for Leo and I to join. I go to a couple of parent and toddler groups and I even brave a weekly bouncy castle hour with Leo at our local leisure centre but I can’t help but think there must be more going on? View Post
Can you believe that I am now half way through my pregnancy? I sure can’t! Since I last wrote a pregnancy update, when I was 16weeks, my bump has probably tripled in size and I definitely feel pregnant now.
So apart from having a bump that is growing bigger by the day. here is what has been going on with me and baby bump lately. View Post
So before I begin and you all get the wrong idea, I’m not some old lady stuck in the times of writing letters while listening to a wireless who thinks we should all chuck our smart phones out in the bin. I am, in fact, a child of the 90’s. I got my first phone when I was 12 (the Nokia 3310 of course) and over the years my phone has become like an extra, extremely important limb. View Post
My boy Leo loves Thomas the Tank. If you have read my blog before or if you know my family in the non-blog world then you will know just how much my boy adores that little blue steam engine. In December we took Leo to Thomas Land in Drayton Manor as an early Christmas present and he loved it. Unfortunately, it is quite a drive for us to visit Thomas Land so when I saw Thomas and his friends were coming to play at the steam railway just 10 minutes from our front door, I just had to book tickets. Over the past couple of years Gillian Flynn has become my favourite author, ever. I love her writing style, the untrustworthy characters she creates and her ability to keep her readers guessing before shocking us all with plot twists that no one saw coming. When I picked up The Grownup in the bookshop and realised it was less than 70 pages long, I was slightly concerned Flynn was not going to be able to deliver her trademark dramatic twists and turns in so few words. How very wrong I was…
It has become a kind of family tradition for Oli and I to go on a summer holiday with my parents every year. Last June we went on holiday to Majorca without them, whilst I had a great time with Oli and Leo I did miss having my Mum and Dad there. When it came to booking a holiday for this year we all decided a UK break was the best option and we booked 5 nights camping in beautiful Cheddar, Somerset. View Post
How are you all? I have only been away from the blogging world for about 2 weeks but it is crazy how much I have missed writing and the lovely blogging community.
Potty training, it is something all us parents dread isn’t it? The excitement of not having to dish out the big bucks on nappies is overshadowed by the fear of having to clean wee stains off the sofa and scraping poo from the lovely white carpets. As soon as your little one starts showing those all important signs that they are ready to ditch the nappies, it is the time to psych yourself up and get into the potty training, super mum zone.
