SafeDreams cot wrap and baby soft toy review

SafeDreams cot wrap and baby soft toy review

If there is one thing parents to be and new parents alike obsess over, it is baby sleep. Should my baby sleep in a cot, moses basket or bed side crib? Should I be co sleeping with my baby? Will my baby EVER sleep through? Sleep. Sleep. Sleep. Baby sleep is a hot topic amongst us parents that’s for sure. As well as always striving for that magical full night of sleep, the safety of our children while they have a snooze is of paramount importance to parents. Thanks to babybundle‘s SafeDreams range parents can be sure their little ones are sleeping safely, when they do eventually decide to drop off that is! Alex was lucky enough to be sent a cot wrap and cuddly soft toy from the SafeDremas range, here is what we thought of these innovative bedtime products.

SafeDreams cot wrap review.

cot wrap

Firstly, I am not going to shame anyone who uses the traditional style cot bumpers, that’s not what this post is about and everyone is entitled to make their own parenting choices, but I have to admit that I personally don’t like them. Everything about cot bumpers screams danger to me and I would much prefer my child to get a limb stuck in the bars of his cot than something much worse happening. I don’t need to worry about Alex getting caught up in his cot though as babybundle , the company behind the UK’s favourite maternity pillow, Widgey, have created a perfect solution to keeping your little one’s arms and legs in their cot whilst eliminating the risks of suffocation and strangulation that are associated with cot bumpers.

cot wrap

The SafeDreams cot wrap is made from clever patented SafeBreathe fabric to allow 100% airflow for your baby at all times. I was pleasantly surprised at how soft the top layer of the fabric is, it’s 100% cotton and would be very tempting for your baby to snuggle up close to while they sleep. In fact, Alex is obsessed with different textures at the moment and he loved running his hand along the fabric. The middle layer of the wrap is made up of thousands of breathable fibres and the bottom layer is an open weave, hypoallergenic mesh, full of holes to accommodate maximum air flow.

cot wrap

Fitting the wrap to the cot was seriously easy as you just fasten it on using the Velcro strips along the top and bottom of the fabric; there is a good amount of Velcro on the wrap so it is sure to fit any size cot. I simply put the wrap along the bars of the cot, pulled each side tight before fixing it in place with the Velcro – each side took less than a minute to attach to the cot. I had a very similar product when Leo was a baby but the wrap used to fall off quite regularly, the Velcro on this SafeDreams cot wrap is so strong though and I think Alex would have to do some serious tugging to pull it off. This wrap is much softer and feels like much better quality than the one I bought for Leo almost 4 years ago, if you want an alternative to a cot bumper I would definitely recommend this SafeDreams cot wrap from babybundle. When Alex moves from his moses basket to his cot in a couple months time I am so glad he will have this cot wrap keeping him safe while he snoozes the night away.

SafeBreathe Patch soft toy review.

cot wrap

Along with the cot wrap Alex was also sent a SafeDreams soft toy from babybundle. Patch is a super cute white and grey dog made up of the same innovative multi  layer fabric as the cot wrap. Alex LOVES patch. When I hand him the toy Alex will put his arms around it, rub it on his face and play with the long dangly limbs and ears. As Alex is teething he also enjoys chomping on Patch’s big nose!

Patch is the only toy I will let Alex sleep with as he has a tendency to put things on his face and I always worry he won’t be able to breathe. With Patch I don’t have to worry as there is no restriction in air flow and if Alex fell asleep with it on his face he would be fine. I was concerned Patch wouldn’t be very cuddly as he’s not stuffed like usual soft toys but the 100% cotton top layer means he is super soft and Alex loves snuggles with Patch. This SafeDreams soft toy is completely hypoallergenic, machine washable and suitable from birth. I think Patch would make a lovely gift for a new baby, Alex loves his and it is so nice to be able to give him a toy to cuddle in bed with the knowledge he will be completely safe. There is also a cute bunny called ‘Hoppy’ in the SafeDreams range.

Love the idea of this. We have a purflo bed nest because I freak out about things being breathable. Callie is next to our window so this may prevent draughts from the outside wall 🙂 #triedtested

Sleep is a definite hot topic and it helps to know that your baby is 100% safe all night long – I especially love the safe toy and think I’ll invest in one of those!

I must admit I’ve never been a fan of traditional cot bumpers and could never understood why people even sell them.
This wrap looks like a great alternative.
Thanks for sharing your review on #TriedTested this week x

how beautiful are these. I never used cot bumpers but these look lovely. I crocheted blankets when b was a baby and they always have a lot of holes in hehe! #KCACOLS

I think you often just get things for your baby because it what’s got. When we were fitting bumpers I remember looking at the ties etc and specifically thinking about how I was fitting them so that they couldn’t possibly be pulled off or stuck under. It’s a bit of mine field. This looks like a product I may well have looked at. We used breathable blankets that looked at bit like this and a similar baby safe toy (which actually only came into it’ sown when baby got to be about 4 or 5 years old – but then that’s our autistic boy for you! Thanks for linking to #kcacols and hope to see you again next Sunday.

That fabric sounds very clever and anything that will keep baby that bit safer is going to be a winner. I never did like bumpers either and I would have opted for this instead. Thank you for sharing with the #Dreamteam xx

We had the exact same wrap for my daughter when she was a baby. So much safer than a cot bumper. My daughter had a tendency to sleep on her side (even as a newborn), despite my attempts to always put her down on her back! That little Patch toy is a great idea too #MarvMondays

These look amazing!!! We never had to worry about
Bumper pads because we bedshare with our littles. But I know if I needed something this would have been it and the stuffy is super cute!!! If I can get one in Canada I’d still get one for my Little Lou who’s first birthday is just a month away. Great review!! #KCACOLS

We didn’t use any kind of cot bumper with our 2 as they really did make me feel nervous, but this one sounds much safer. And I love that cuddly toy. Again, I used to feel really nervous with them sleeping with toys but this one would really put my mind at rest and still let them have something snuggly to sleep with! x #KCACOLS

This look like a fab alternative to a bumper. Safety really is a big worry for most parents when thinking about your babys sleep. We are lucky ours never wanted anything to comfort them in the form of a toy. We had a fantastic crib which has a rocking feature in built which was great for soothing them to sleep. http://www.cuckooland.com/dnc/cuckooland/category/3231/cots-cot-beds

Great Article! Remember always one thing that never places your baby to sleep on a couch, sofa, or armchair because this is an extremely dangerous place for your baby to sleep. The best place for your baby to sleep is in a bassinet or crib. Thanks for sharing such an informative article and I really liked it. Keep posting like this.
