#MUMSTHATGOTTHIS – A new Instagram community for amazing real mums

Eeep, I am so excited to bring you this news! I am launching my very own Instagram community today , #mumsthatgotthis . For all of it’s flaws (algorithm of doom just being one), I do really love Instagram and my favourite thing about it is the wonderful community feel the app has. I love that you can go on to Instastories feeling a bit rubbish and then DM after DM start to pour into your inbox, messages of reassurance and support that can completely turn a crap day around. My favourite places to hang out on Instagram are the hashtags started by other parent bloggers, they are a great way to catch up with everyone and to chat with other parents, whilst admiring their gorgeous photos too of course. One of my goals for 2018 is to build a community, both on Facebook and Instagram of parents all there to support, reassure and (hopefully) become friends with each other. I started Naptime Natter Mums on Facebook at the beginning of January (you can join here) and today #mumsthatgotthis is launching on Instagram – yay!

#MUMSTHATGOTTHIS – A new Instagram community for amazing real mums

The story behind the hashtag..

Sometimes I feel like I am the worlds worst mum, I feel like I am doing everything wrong and every decision I make involving my kids is the wrong one. The past few months I have been working so hard to move away from this negative mindset and I can happily say I am probably the most positive and happy now that I have even been. On those hard days though I feel like I most definitely haven’t ‘got it’ when it comes to being a good mum, I feel as though I am failing and don’t have a clue what I’m doing, The truth is though, we are all amazing mums. We should never think of ourselves as a bad mum having a bad day, instead realise we are always trying our best and sometimes we have a crap day, that doesn’t make us a crap mum it just makes us human,

I wanted to create a hashtag for mums to use on the good days and the bad days. A community for mums on the days where they’ve baked cookies, played play doh and got the kids running around for an hour and on the days where Cbeebies has been on babysitting duty, the kids have had about fifty tantrums and you burnt their fish fingers at tea time. Whatever has happened in the day, we have always got this, we are always just doing the best we can. If you lose your shit sometimes then that’s no big deal, even that perfect mum you envy has a massive freak out sometimes too but she’s just not posting about it online.

What pictures can you tag?

Posting about your child’s epic in tantrum in Tesco? Use the hashtag. Posting about how you are so proud of your little one for eating all his veg for once? Use the hashtag. Posting about your beautiful day out on a country walk and how your child did/didn’t have a meltdown the whole time you were out? Use the hashtag! #mumsthatgotthis is a place to showcase that life with kids is full of good and bad times, sharing those days where everything goes according to plan and the others where it’s one disaster after another. I want you to share them all. Instagram can give this impression that life is just perfect and wonderful and if you are having a tough time of it you can come away from all the gorgeously curated feeds and captions telling only half the real story feeling pretty miserable. Whatever your day has thrown at you though, you are always an amazing mum and you have totally got this mama!

Why join the community?

Well, if everything I have said above hasn’t already convinced you, here are some other reasons why you should get involved with #mumsthatgotthis ..

  1. I will feature the photo I have loved the most from the community on my own Instagram feed once a week on a Sunday and tag in your account in the photo and the caption. I only have 1800 followers but it is still more eyes on your content.
  2. At the end of each month I will do a round up of all my favourite posts from the last four weeks in a post on my blog. I will of course link back to your Instagram account and if you are a blogger I will link back to your blog too. At the time of writing this my DA is 34.
  3. You could meet some new online friends. Like I said at the start, I love Instagram and it has resulted in me making friendships with so many lovely people I would never have met otherwise. #mumsthatgotthis will be a place for you to find like minded parents to chat to and hopefully build some wonderful friendships with too.

I hope to see you all over on Instagram and can’t wait to share your amazing photos and get to know you all a bit better.

What a great idea for a community. I’m not sure how well I’m doing as a mum on Instagram, even my own son won’t follow me back. #BloggersBest
