Time to take a blogging break

Time to take a blogging break

Every couple of months or so I like to take a little break from my blog. I find disconnecting for a while and removing myself from the blogosphere does me the world of good. By taking a step back from blogging I am able to give more of my time and attention to my family and also indulge in my other hobbies, as well as enjoying some much needed ‘me time’.

This Friday Leo, Oli and I are off on holiday with my parents. We are going to Cheddar in Somerset and will be spending 5 nights staying in my parents caravan. I am excited to spend lots of quality time with my family and to make lots of lovely memories with my boy.

I don’t want to be glued to my phone, tweeting, liking, commenting and sharing. I also don’t want to be spending my evenings typing up posts and editing pictures. I want to fully immerse myself in the real world, not worry about my stats or anything else to do with my blog and just enjoy this precious time with my family. I want to spend the days exploring everything Somerset has to offer, enjoying relaxing days splashing in the campsite pool and spending evenings dancing away with Leo in the club house or playing countless games of Articulate and Cluedo with Oli and my parents.
I am most looking forward to having Oli with us, all day, every day for a whole week. He has been crazy busy with work lately, working night shifts and extra hours. Next week will be his first annual leave in almost a year and I don’t want to miss out on any of it because I’m too busy blogging. It is also mine and Oli’s birthdays on the 15th and 16th of May so that’s another good reason why I don’t want to be stuck behind a computer screen.
Once we are back from holiday I am planning on spending a few days finally getting my blog self hosted. I have a big to do list for my relaunch and I am not sure how long it is going to take me to get it all ticked off. So really, I don’t know when I will be back, hopefully by the end of the month with a fancy looking new blog and lots of fun tales from our holiday to share with you all.
So, after Friday I won’t be posting, I won’t be linking up and I will pretty much disappear from social media. And, you know what? I couldn’t be more excited. I love blogging, it is such a big part of my life now but I really can’t wait to sign out on Friday and have some time away from it all.
Time to disconnect and stare at something much more beautiful than a glaring phone screen.

Have you ever taken a blogging break? Do you enjoy disconnecting for a while or do you spend the whole time worrying about your stats? I would love to know your thoughts on taking a blog break. Anyone off anywhere nice on holiday this year?

See you all on the flip side 🙂

Enjoy the break! I love this idea – after all you take a break from your "real" job and it does you the world of good you should do the same with blogging!x #BloggerClubUK

This post has come at the perfect time as I will also be taking a blogging break next week! We are going on our first family holiday (funnily enough, we will be visiting Cheddar Gorge, as well as Longleat and Bath) so I will be leaving the internet alone (we won't have wifi anyway) and not blogging or linking for the week. I'm really looking forward to enjoying the break with my husband and son. Enjoy your break! #BloggerClubUk

I have never managed to blog really consistently – I do really well for a couple of weeks them seem to do nothing for a few days. I used to worry about it, but now just put it down to finding my blogging/rest of life balance. Hope you have a fab break x

Enjoy your break! I always seem to find that going out and 'living' inspires so much more blog content. Sounds like a lovely family holiday – enjoy! #bloggerclubuk

Enjoy your holiday. It sounds lovely. I haven't been to Cheddar Gorge in years but it has lots of childhood memories for me. As someone else said above, you take breaks from your regular job, why not blogging? #BloggerClubUK

Have an amazing holiday. I've visited cheddar gorge before but children were too young for the caves but a lovely little place. I'm going to be having a 2-3 week break soon as also going on holiday. Think it's good to recharge & disconnect from your phone once in a while. #coolmumclub lifeinthemumslane

A blogging break sounds good! I spent 5 days in a caravan recently too which was lovely and as you say to have my partner with us the whole time was just great. I don't actually do that much compared to others on my blog and social media but it's so time consuming, I think a break sounds great! Exciting about the relaunch too. #FamilyFun

Cheddar! that is near me 🙂 Such a lush place. I hope the weather is good for you. I had a break from blogging when we were away in april and it was nice not to be on my phone all the time 🙂 #BloggerClubUK

I've been giving this some serious thought lately. One weekend a month I'm going to give social media a break and come back to the real world. I'm also going to do a blogging break 1 week a month too. Hope your blog break goes well and you have a lovely holiday xx #coolmumclub

  22. May 12, 2016 / 9:37 am

Good for you! I had a little break last weekend as we were away and it's so refreshing to 'give yourself permission' to switch off from it all for a while. I really do think it does your creativity the world of good. Good luck with going self-hosted – I had a bit of a painful transition but it was so worth it in the end. x #coolmumclub

I had a blogging break when we went on a holiday to Florida last January and it feels so good. I initially thought its beyond the bounds of possibility because I'm addicted to blogging but I really enjoyed the feeling of not being pressured to blog and everything that goes with it. I think having a blogging break is good for us and especially for our family, we know how much we missed out on them while we are on our blogs. Going on holiday is a perfect excuse for it. Have fun and enjoy your time with family! Happy birthday to you and Oli! #coolmumclub

Having a blogging break is good every now and then – it's so easy to get caught up in it all. I took time off over Christmas and loved it and had an enforced break last year when we were staying somewhere with no wifi which made me realise how good it was to step away every now and then. Sounds like you've got a wonderful week planned, hope you enjoy your holiday – happy birthday to you and Oli – and good luck with going self-hosted on your return. Thanks for linking up to #FamilyFun 🙂

I am a HUGE fan of blogging breaks. I take them regularly and find they recharge my mind and enthusiasm. I have a couple of big ones planned this year (snap new babies!) but I also feel I need one now…I think in June I'll take myself away. I've always found everything is still here when you get back and often it's easier to get more involved if that makes sense. Have a wonderful holiday and lovely family time #familyfun Lucy at occupation: (m)other

Such a good idea. I've kind of just had an (unplanned) break. I felt like my blog (and the associated twitter/instagram/stats etc) was taking over my life a bit too much. I'm nearing the end of my maternity leave and I realised I just wanted to enjoy a bit of time with my family, not glued to the laptop or phone. I'm kind of back but trying to be sensible and not get too obsessive with it. You are absolutely doing the right thing, enjoy a wonderful break in Somerset and fully recharge. #FamilyFun

I only post during the week so I can get a break from it. It can be so overwhelming and exhausting but Sunday is my no phone day. I don't even touch my phone unless it's an important call from family (or work). Good luck with all the upcoming changes! #familyfun

That is such a lovely idea. Even with a small following on twitter and on my blog, I spend a great deal of tie on my phone and I do actually feel bad about it. I am worried that it makes me a terrible parent and a terrible wife, but I want to succeed so surely I need to put in work. I do, however, spend days without my phone if we are having a family day out because, as important as it is that I promote my blog, it is even more important that I don't miss out on any of my baby's life.

I've only been blogging properly for a few months, so am still pretty keen, however I do find fitting in time and issue at the moment so trying to be productive when I get the chance 🙂 I took a small break a few weeks ago as it was my partners birthday and i was planning my daughter 2nd birthday party..plus the party itself, so i decided I really needed to concentrate on that more than my beloved blog. it felt nice to come back with fresh ideas and motivation. thanks for sharing and enjoy your time away 🙂 #PicknMix

Such a good idea! I have been blogging since Sept properly and I have yet to take a break but I will definitely be doing it so I can get 'back to basics' and take a few days away from my phone and laptop 🙂
