4 tips to help you buy your new family car

4 tips to help you buy your new family car

*collaborative post*

When you start a family your bank balance takes a massive blow. There really is no avoiding all the baby/family related spending that starts pretty much from the moment you get pregnant and doesn’t really ever stop. When I was pregnant with Tilly we realised we were going to need to invest in a bigger car as the boys were still in big bulky car seats. We are yet to buy ourselves a new family car, I am currently stuck sitting in the back and Leo has his car seat in the front whenever the five off us are off somewhere on an adventure.  While we save up, we are also researching what the most suitable car will be for our growing family’s needs. Today I have a guest post full of really useful tips if you too are also looking to buy a new family car. One day I will make it back to the passenger seat and Leo’s seat will fit in the back again – one day! View Post

Preparing for life with a newborn – 5 of the many decisions you need to make as a parent to be

Preparing for life with a newborn – 5 of the many decisions you need to make as a parent to be

*collaborative post*

I’m 39 weeks pregnant now you guys. Just 7 little days until baby girl’s due date. I feel prepared and completely unprepared all at the same time. I can sort of remember what life with a newborn baby is like but I keep worrying I will have forgotten how to do the basics like how to bathe and change nappies properly. I have decided to do a few things differently third time around; we will be using a bedside crib for the first time and I think I might try my hand at swaddling at bedtime. As a soon to be third time mum though, I feel like I have made all the big decisions already as I have learnt from experience and, to a degree, know what to expect. If you are first time parent though you may still be umming and ahhing over the big decisions like feeding etc. I have a guest post today talking about 5 of the biggest decisions you will need to make in preparation for life with your newborn. I hope any of you first time parents reading this find it useful. View Post

6 simple things you can do to relax once you become a parent

6 simple things you can do to relax once you become a parent

*collaborative content*

I am about to become a mum for the third time. I am pro mama now, a veteran mother some might say (I wouldn’t but some people might!). Something I have learnt during my almost six years as a mum is that parenting is really bloody hard at times and we all need a break occasionally. I know that making time to relax and just breathe for a second can be so difficult once you become a mum, especially when you have a newborn baby in the house. Although it really is wonderful, becoming a parent can be really stressful, the sleep deprivation and constant crying can leave you feeling pretty miserable and run down and that is why finding time to relax is SO important. I have a great guest post for you today, it is all about finding ways to relax once you become a parent. I hope you find it useful and please remember that making time to relax does not make you a bad or selfish parent. You can’t pour from an empty cup, remember? View Post

4 tips to help you prepare for life as a married couple

*collaborative guest post*

Oli and I fell out recently. I don’t normally air our dirty laundry here on the blog and I am not going to now but let’s just say, well, this argument was a biggie. We are fine now, all problems are resolved but it did make me think how things have changed since our wedding day. The reality is, married life can be hard and it takes work: these are all things my own parents told me before my big day but I didn’t believe them when I was swept up floating on cloud nine in my love bubble. I have a guest post today sharing some important things you and your future spouse should discuss and consider to help you know what to do when you are dealing with some of the bigger issues married life can throw at you. I hope you find it useful.  View Post

Tips on planning your wedding when you are parents

Tips on planning your wedding when you are parents

*collaborative guest post*

At the end of May Oli and I celebrated 10 whole years together, that’s a whole decade! We got married six years ago and at the time I had a little tiny Leo growing away in my belly. Planning a wedding when pregnant wasn’t too difficult but there were some logistical things that needed thinking about, the big question mark over whether my dress would fit on the big day was a cause of much anxiety leading up to the wedding! Some parents never marry, some people get married before babies and some get married after, if you fall into the latter then this post is for you. This guest post is full of tips if you are planning a wedding and you already have a child or children. I hope it helps you to plan the wedding of your dreams and, remember, try not to let the planning stress you out, a wedding is a happy occasion and the most important thing is that you and your partner have a lovely wedding day when it arrives. 10 ways to stay sane as a brand new mum

10 ways to stay sane as a brand new mum

*collaborative guest post*

Being a new mum is amazing, but it isn’t a walk in the park. Between the smiles, the giggles, and the cuddles that make your heart melt, there is sick, poop, and constant shrieking. All of this can get overwhelming at times, exhausting, and, strangely, even a little boring too. Staying in high spirits when you feel so physically and emotionally drained isn’t easy, but that doesn’t mean that you can or should succumb to insanity. After all, your little one needs you happy and healthy just as much as you do. With that in mind, here are ten ways to stay sane as a brand new mum. View Post

How to get body confident after pregnancy – tips from a personal trainer

How to get body confident after pregnancy – tips from a personal trainer

The pressure to spring back into shape after having a baby is a very real thing for new mums. We are bombarded with images in the media of celebrity mums easily fitting back into their skinny jeans 2 weeks post birth and not to mention the disgusting magazine articles you see where mums ‘imperfections’ are photographed, zoomed in on and then given a big red circle of shame around them for added insult. There is a reason mums all over the country breathed a huge sigh of relief when Kate Middleton stepped out of hospital a day after having baby George back in 2013 with a very visible (and very real) mummy tummy. These are the images we need to see more of, new mums need to know that bouncing back into our pre pregnancy wardrobe in just a matter of weeks is not only unrealistic but it is unhealthy too.

It can be hard to feel confident in your skin after having a baby, pregnancy changes our body so much and sometimes the body we are left with feels nothing like our own. If you are a mum and feel like you are ready to start trying to get fitter and learn to love your new mummy body (and you should love it, it grew a human!) then I have just the post for you.  Over the past 6 months or so I have been  (loosely) following a brilliant new fitness program designed just for new mums, to help them get healthier and fitter and to love the new body their children have given them. Lean Mums has completely changed my attitude towards my postpartum body, I am now the fittest I have ever been and I feel amazing (you can read all about my experience using the Lean Mums programme here). Today I have an interview with Lean Mums founder and personal trainer Robbie, he is sharing all his expert tips and advice on how to love your body after pregnancy and shows us all that silly faddy diets are so not the way to go if you want to be fit, healthy and – most importantly – happy.  View Post

Why blog? – The Newbie Takeover #6 with The Mummy Bubble

The Newbie Takeover guest blogging series is back! I took a bit of an unplanned break from this series, not because I didn’t have any submissions but because the summer holidays happened. Anyway,  I’ve managed to claw back a bit of time so I am now relaunching The Newbie Takeover and next up is Vicky from The Mummy Bubble with a brilliant post about why you should blog. New guest blogging series – The Newbie Takeover

New guest blogging series – The Newbie Takeover

This blogging business is a bit overwhelming at times, isn’t it? I mean, I have been at it for over 2 years now and I am still learning new things pretty much every day and can often still feel a bit confused by it all. When I first started blogging it took me quite a while to find my feet and the best thing I did (and this is my top tip for all new bloggers, by the way) is to ask fellow bloggers for advice/help/support. The blogging community is so friendly, kind and, in the parent blogging community especially, the sense of solidarity is really inspiring. I have been wondering for sometime how I can help bloggers just starting out, bloggers feeling as overwhelmed and baffled by it all as I did when I first started tapping at the keys of my laptop in 2015. I am not a pro blogger so I can’t really offer many useful blog tips and tricks but I do have a strong readership, an engaged bunch of lovely mums/dads who all seem to love reading blogs. Exposure is so so important when you start blogging and it can be really difficult to get eyes on your posts when your blog is just a baby. SO, I have decided to start a new guest blogging series all for the new bloggers on the scene, let me introduce you to.. View Post
