5 reasons my sons are my little super heroes {featuring awesome new Spider Man toys from shopDisney }

As a mum with two sons I know A LOT about super hero characters. I feel like if I went on Mastermind I would be a fool not to choose Marvel as my specialist subject. At present, Leo loves pretending to be Thanos from Avengers and Alex chases him around the house shouting ‘Hulk Smash!’ in his deepest most threatening voice – it is very funny to watch. Spider Man has always been a firm favourite for both boys though and they really love playing with all their Spider Man toys. My favourite super hero isn’t Spider Man or Iron Man, Captain America or Black Panther or anyone from the pages of a comic book. My favourite super hero, well super heroes, are my two boys. My sons are my heroes and here are 5 reasons why I feel that way. View Post

What is it with kids and snacks? I swear my boys would snack all day long if I let them. The mere mention of the S word and I have them both running to the kitchen, trying to raid the cupboards in search of their next fix. I try my best to give the boys healthy snacks like pieces of fruit, vegetable sticks or a piece of peanutbutter on toast or something similar. Sometimes though, these kids of mine want a treat and I am more than happy to occasionally satisfy their sweet tooth. When it comes to a sweet treat, as a family we love the Mr Kipling range of cakes and slices. It turns out we are not the only ones as the new 30% less sugar Mr Kipling fruit slices have recently won Product of the Year for 2019 in the kids food and drink category. We were recently sent some of the Mr Kipling fruit slices to try, read on to see what we thought and to be in with a chance to win a hamper of less sugar (aka less Mum guilt!) Mr Kipling fruit slices for you and your family to enjoy. View Post

Book club – One Small Thing review

Book club – One Small Thing review

I have always secretly wanted to be a part of a book club. I love reading, I love talking about what I am reading and I am always interested to hear about what others are reading. How cool would it be to share this love of books with others and to read and talk about a book together each month? I have also always thought that being in a book club was just something for middle aged women, the retired ladies with grey hair and the seriously academic types who probably only read Shakespeare or Jane Austin every month. Turns out, I was wrong. You can be in your twenties and be a part of a book club, it’s not weird at all. A fellow blogger sent out a request on Twitter asking for bookworms to join her new book club and I just though, why the hell not? We don’t meet in coffee shops or have a rota for holding monthly meetings in members houses, we congregate in our Instagram DMs and I am absolutely loving chatting books with these ladies. For our first book, the head of the book club chose One Small Thing by Erin Watt. I had never heard of this book before and was excited to give it a try. Here is my review of One Small Thing, if you’re into young adult fiction then I’m sure you will enjoy it. View Post

Keeping your child’s school uniform safe with Stikets personalised clothes labels

Keeping your child’s school uniform safe with Stikets personalised clothes labels

When Leo started his new school back in May last year he had three school jumpers. Want to know how many he has now not even 12 months later? One. He has one school jumper. There seems to be a black hole in that school from which school uniforms can never return but Leo losing most of his school uniform is partly my fault too. I didn’t label them. I did scrawl his name onto the label with pen but obviously not well enough to survive the multiple washes they had to endure. Once Leo took his jumper off at school it was only going to be a matter of time before they got lost or taken home by someone else by mistake. Luckily for me, Stikets got in touch to ask if I would review their personalised iron-on labels. It looks like I can save Leo’s last school jumper from the school uniform eating black hole after all! Here is my review of the Stikets labels, they are easy to use, completely customisable and can handle as many trips through the washing machine as your little ones uniform can. Stick around to the end of the post for your chance to WIN your own pack of Stikets labels. View Post

Wooden book storage carts for toddlers

Wooden book storage carts for toddlers

My boys love books, they take after me in the fact that they are both little book worms. I adore how much they love reading and story time but it does mean our house is overflowing with books. There are two bookcases full of children’s books and an IKEA storage unit is crammed full of the works of the boys favourite authors: Julia Donaldson being Leo’s absolute favourite and Alex has a bit of an obsession with Spot the Dog. With Christmas around the corner, I am bracing myself for piles of new books coming into the house but I am stuck thinking, where the hell are they all going to go?! Book storage is something we can never have too much of in this house and I was thrilled when my lovely friend Sarah, blogger at From Day Dot, offered to let me review one of her handmade wooden storage carts. These mini storage carts are perfect for keeping a small pile of books in and are a fun solution to the ‘the bookcase is overflowing!‘ dilemma.  View Post

Autumn fashion for Mamas with J D Williams

Autumn fashion for Mamas with J D Williams

Brr, it’s starting to get cold out there now, isn’t it? I have well and truly declared the flip flops out of action and can often be found cursing myself these days for being optimistic about the weather and not bringing out a coat with me. I do love Autumn though and one of my favourite things about this time of year is the fashion. I am loving all the mustard and burnt orange clothes in the shops at the moment, all the chunky knits seriously appeal to my inner teddy bear and you can never go wrong with a good comfortable winter boot in my eyes. I was in need of a bit of an autumnal injection of clothes into my wardrobe so I was very happy when fashion website JD Williams offered to send me some bits to try. Here’s what I thought of them.. Izmi toddler carrier review

Izmi toddler carrier review

*collaborative post*

Using a sling was one of the best parenting decisions I ever made. Life with a newborn is so much easier when you babywear and there is no way I could have coped without one after I had my second baby. Babywearing isn’t just for babies though and slings and baby carriers are a great tool to have in your parenting arsenal even when your child grows into a toddler. Alex grew out of his baby size buckle carrier when he was about 18 months old, I have desperately been searching for a new sling and was so happy to be asked to review the Izmi toddler carrier. If you are planning on toddlerwearing and are looking for a suitable toddler carrier, here is my review of the Izmi – I hope it helps! View Post

Want to hear something a bit ridiculous? I have 3756 photos on my iPhone, I have only owned this phone since September 2017. I have snapped almost 4000 photos in just 8 months, that’s insane. Out of all those photos though, I probably only have  200 printed, 200 physical copies I can hold in my hands, store in family albums or frame and display proudly on the walls of my home. View Post

Day out with Thomas at the Watercress Line

Day out with Thomas at the Watercress Line

When Leo was two he was obsessed with Thomas the Tank, I mean ob-sessed! His bedroom is still full of various bits of track, he has about five little Thomas trains and a James, Gordon, Harold the helicopter, Percy and, well, you know all the rest right? We took Leo on a Day out with Thomas at Eastleigh miniature railway when he was two and he loved it so when we were invited along to go for another Day out with Thomas, this time along the Watercress Line, I knew my Thomas super fan would be desperate to go. Last week, during the Easter holidays and on the sunniest day Hampshire had been blessed with in months, Leo and I headed out for a Day out with Thomas, singing the theme tune the whole way there in the car. Don’t let motherhood stop you from chasing your dreams – WIN an online creative writing course

Want to hear a secret? Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to write a book. I have always been a massive bookworm, for years I would fall asleep with my glasses still on my face and a book in my hands, the page I was reading lost until morning. I love reading, I love how I can physically just be sat in my living room but, through the power of words on a page, feel like I’m in a whole different place, watching the excitement and drama of someone else’s life unfold. Books really are amazing.

I have always admired how authors are able to make you feel so many strong emotions just through the sentences they have creatively crafted together.  There have been times I have slammed books closed in frustration, cried my eyes out with what feels like genuine grief at the demise of a main character and times I have laughed so hard it hurts. That’s my dream right there; I would love to write a story that people really invested in, that moved them and made them really feel something. So why haven’t I done it, you might be wondering? Well, I have a good reason. Two good reasons actually, one is called Leo and the other is called Alex. View Post

Beautiful jewellery for mums – Kaya Jewellery review and giveaway

A bit about Kaya Jewellery

Kaya Jewellery is a brand created by mum of two daughters, Tanja. Tanja was inspired by her eldest daughter Kaya to create matching mother and daughter jewellery. On the kaya website you can find a whole range of mother daughter jewellery, including baby bracelets and mum necklaces. I am all for supporting small businesses, especially those that support a great cause, something which Kaya Jewellery does. Tanja wanted to find a way  to help others through her business and she donates part of her profits to Eduki, a foundation that helps to make sure underprivileged children in Gambia are able to go to school – amazing!

There are so many gorgeous options to chose from if you are looking for a gift for a new mum, your own mum or you just want to treat yourself. If you have a jewellery loving daughter who wants to be just like her mama, then you can find a whole load of matching jewellery sets, the majority of which can be customised. All the Kaya products are handmade in the UK and are made from good quality materials like sterling silver, precious stones and crystals.

Personalised infinity mum necklace review

I received a beautiful necklace from Kaya Jewellery, I completely adore it and haven’t taken it off since the day it arrived. My infinity mum necklace arrived in a gorgeous little pink box, complete with a polishing cloth to keep it looking shiny and in great condition. The infinity necklace looks like a figure of eight, the infinity symbol, and represents never ending love for the names of the people you have engraved on it. Obviously, I chose to have my boys names engraved on my necklace and I am so pleased with how they came out. The pendant is not big and bulky but it is just large enough to feature both my boys names (Leo and Alex) and for them to be easily read.

The necklace is made from sterling silver and the chain links are the perfect size, not too chunky but not too fragile and dainty either. I actually really like how strong the chain is without being too big, Alex has yanked on it quite a lot and it has managed to survive unscathed. I am going to say that the Kaya jewellery is pretty tough, if it can survive my toddler trying to rip it from my neck then it must be!

The quality of this necklace is amazing, considering it costs only £34.90 and the postage is free, as is the gift wrapping. I would have happily paid more for this necklace and without a shadow of a doubt I will be buying from Kaya Jewellery in the future. Kaya Jewellery is a great online shop to browse if you are looking for a really special Mother’s Day gift, birthday present or want to treat your daughter and yourself to some matching jewellery.

Weaning with HiPP Organic – Introducing the HiPP Buddies

Weaning with HiPP Organic – Introducing the HiPP Buddies

Here at Naptime Natter HQ we love easy and convenient food, it also has to be healthy and taste amazing too though. I love spending time searching Pinterest and cookbooks for yummy recipes and writing out a weekly meal plan before browsing the aisles in the supermarket and dropping fresh and nutritious ingredients into the trolley. However, when it comes to weaning your baby, sometimes even cooking up a 15 minute meal feels impossible and it can get a bit complicated taking homemade baby food out and about with you – this is why I love using pouches. Ever since we started weaning Alex when he was 6 months old, we have used baby food pouches to help him get used to new flavours and textures; we teamed up with HiPP Organic and Alex has loved tasting their wide variety of baby foods as part of his weaning journey. Alex was so excited to receive a selection of HiPP Organic sweet and their brand new savoury pouches to try and we were introduced to the newest members of the HiPP family – the HiPP Buddies! Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine – book review

Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine – book review

For a very long time I have been searching for a book that could rekindle my love of reading. Being a busy mum of two, I really crave the escapism from real life that a book can offer but I have been struggling to find a story that was able to hold my attention. I have been on a mission to find a book that takes over my life, a real page turner worth staying up late reading and sacrificing my precious evenings binge watching Netflix for. I needed one of those books that’s leaves it characters and their lives lingering in your mind long after you’ve reluctantly put your paper back down to get on with something else. I did as anyone would do with a dilemma in this day and age and I turned to social media for help to find my perfect book. I had a fair few suggestions but when someone suggested a unknown title to me on Twitter, I knew it was the one, the book that could bring my inner bookworm back to life. That book was Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine and, if this paragraph hasn’t already given it away, I LOVED it. Here is my full review .. View Post

Weaning with HiPP Organic – introducing textured food to your baby

*collaborative post*

Introducing lumps and more textured food to your baby’s diet can be pretty scary. I know with both of my boys I got really stressed about them choking as they progressed from their first tastes of puree onto more lumpy meals. I have always used a mixture of homemade and shop bought baby food when weaning my babies. As they transition from smooth to more textured food, I like to buy jars before making their food myself, it helps to give me an idea of what sort of consistency their food should be for this stage of weaning. Recently Alex was sent a selection of stage 2 and stage 3 jars from HiPP Organic to try out, these meals are perfect for introducing lumps into your babies diet and helping them figure out how to chew food properly. Here is a review of what Alex thought of the HiPP Organic range and some useful tips on how to successfully introduce more variety and texture in to your baby’s diet. View Post
