The ONE thing all mums want for Mother’s Day

The ONE thing all mums want for Mother’s Day

*collaborative post – this post contains gifted items from Cosmetify*

This Sunday is Mother’s Day here in the UK. A day for celebrating our lovely mums and feeling the extra love from our own children too. Mums are amazing every single day of the year and deserve to be appreciated for everything they do all year round but I think Mother’s Day is a lovely way to go that little bit further and show your mum how much she really means to you. The question many of us find ourselves asking is this – what shall I buy my mum for Mother’s Day? This post isn’t your typical Mother’s Day gift guide, there are present ideas, sure, but I truly believe there is only one thing mums (especially those of young children) want. What is that thing? Well, that thing is time.

The ONE thing all mums want for Mother’s Day

TIME to rest

Give your mum a lovely lie in this Sunday, how often does she get to stay in bed and not have to worry about everyone else? Dads, help younger kids make her breakfast in bed, take control of the housework and let her stay in bed until she’s actually ready to get up, not when the kids demand it.

You could run her a nice hot bath, with a box of new bath bombs and face masks waiting for her in the bathroom. Being a mum is both physically and mentally demanding all year round and a nice long (undisturbed!) bath can work wonders.

TIME to pamper

How often do us mums have the time to do our hair and make up how we would really like to have it? The mum bun exists for a reason, it’s quick and it doesn’t really matter if it looks a mess. Blobbing a bit of concealer over the eyes bags doesn’t really count as a good pamper session does it. Little kids can go play with Daddy for a bit and older kids can go entertain themselves with their toys for and hour or so, give your mama some time to pamper herself how she would every day if she wasn’t rushing around after everyone else. I was gifted some lovely beauty products from Cosmetify and it was blissful just listening to music and giving myself  a nice little makeover for a change. Cosmetify are an online shop that sell everything you could possibly want in the world of beauty products. They have a large range of make up brands (including benefit – my fave), perfumes (everything from Prada to Yves Saint Laurent), bath products, hair, nails and skin care too. Cosmetify can definitely be your one stop shop this Mother’s Day if you want to treat your mum to the beauty products she loves.

TIME to eat

We all know what it is like to rush eat our lunch before a toddler tantrum ensues, our food gets stolen or we are dragged away from our food for one of a million other reasons. We all know what it’s like to eat the kids breakfast leftovers because we’ve run out of time in the mornings or what it is like to eat fish fingers for tea more than once a week. Make your mum feel special this Mother’s Day and take her out for food. Afternoon tea is always a great way to add a bit of luxury to meal times (especially if prosecco is involved!) and going out for a meal is always great because there are no dishes to clean afterwards. You could send your mama out for coffee and cake in the afternoon, she could go alone and just savour her drink being hot and not having to share her food! It’s little simple things like this that us mums miss when we are busy looking after kids all day.

TIME to relax

Spa day? Massage? Manicure? A whole morning in bed with a book and coffee on demand? These are just a few ways you can treat your mum to some proper relaxation this Mother’s Day. I can’t imagine any mum would be disappointed to find out she will be spending her Sunday in complete tranquil bliss in a spa or having all the knots from years of carrying kids around worked out of her back by a professional masseuse. Us mums don’t get much time to properly unwind and relax, there’s always something to do, so a gift like this is sure to make your mum very very happy.

TIME to be together

Not all mums want to spend their Mother’s Day away from their kids. More often, they want to bask in the cuddles and extra kisses and do things together as a family. Younger children could make homemade gifts like finger painted Mother’s Day cards, flower crafts or (with assistance!) bake some fairy cakes and you could all simply sit around the table together and enjoy these gifts together. The best thing about being a mum is having wonderful children to spend your time with, you could go on a big family walk to one of mums favourite spots and make some happy memories together – no soft play allowed!

Shower your mum with extra love this Mother’s Day, tell her how much you love her and how much she means to you. Spend the day giving her big hugs and kisses and make her feel extra special. I’m sure she makes you feel special every single day of the year, let’s give some of that love back to the women in our lives who mean the most to us.

Where to buy your mum a meaningful gift this Mother’s Day –

Bath sets, make up and gifts for the perfect home pamper sessionCosmetify – I was gifted some lovely products from Cosmetify to give myself a bit of a pamper and take some time for myself. I loved the 7th Heaven gift set of face masks and the Benefit concealer and Rimmel mascara have made me feel like less of a Mombie and I even gave myself a little home manicure using the Nails Inc nail polish.

Afternoon tea – If you want to book an afternoon tea for your mum this Mother’s Day, check out this afternoon tea UK guide to find a place near you to treat your mum to some yummy scones and cakes.

Spa day – To find a spa near you for a good price, I always find sites like Groupon and Wowcher are great. Many offers include access to the Spa facilities and a treatment and you can find some really good deals if you shop around.

Beauty treatments – A quick and easy way to book beauty treatments near you is to use Treat Well, this is a fab website where you just enter your postcode and what treatment you want and it gives you a list of places in your local area that have appointments available. Booking your mum in for that mani pedi couldn’t be easier.

Remember, the most valuable thing you can give your mum this Mother’s Day is time. She deserves a break, she deserves the freedom to enjoy her family and not just be running around doing ALL the jobs. She needs that morning in bed and the chance to pamper herself and to relax. Mums are amazing, let’s make them feel every bit as special as they are this Mother’s Day.

Aww this is lovely. Some really nice ideas. It doesn’t take much to make us Mums happy!

Yes to this!! A lovely long lie in would be top of my list. We’ve booked a brunch this year, at a cafe round the corner from us, so no one has to do any breakfast prepping or washing up.

So true! The one thing I’m always in need of is a little more time. I’m not one for long baths but a lie in with a book and a coffee sounds amazing! We’re actually spending the day at a farm on Mothers Day this year but I know that seeing the boys have a great day will be just as rewarding x

Have yourself a happy mother’s day xx
