It has been just over 2 months since we left our little house in Swansea behind and moved to our new home in Hampshire. Although everything has been unpacked for weeks and the place is starting to look a bit more homey, it still doesn’t really feel like home. The fact that we haven’t decorated a single room yet may be the culprit, without putting your own personal touch on a place it is hard to feel like it is really yours.
Most of the rooms in the house I am quite happy with, I would like to get some new carpets in and maybe brighten the place up with some fresh, bright paint but apart from that it’s not too bad. The one room I would really love to completely transform is Leo’s. When we lived in Swansea we weren’t allowed to decorate and pretty much all of his furniture is second hand. Leo has never really had a proper little boys room before and with the new year just around the corner, I think now is the perfect time to start planning a big bedroom make over.
So, here is my toddler bedroom wishlist. Maybe you will find something you like here too…
Bed
Last week we took the sides off Leo’s cot and he is now sleeping in his cot bed. Once he gets settled in to being in a big boy bed, I would love to get him a new one. The cot bed he is in now was my nephews and it has definitely seen better days. Leo is obsessed with Thomas the Tank at the minute and I know he would just love this Thomas toddler bed from Mothercare. I love the extra storage underneath, you can never have too much storage space.
Wardrobe
Currently, all of Leo’s clothes are being stored in big, pine chest of drawers that used to belong in mine and Oli’s bedroom. I would love to get him a wardrobe where all his clothes could be stored as this would free up a bit of space in his small room. I love this one door midi wardrobe from Room to Grow, I like the shelf storage down the one side where I could fold all Leo’s trousers, pyjamas and other clothes, as well as displaying some photographs (on the highest shelf of course!). There is a rail on the other side where I could hang all his cute little tops.
Chair
Leo loves to just sit and look at books, he has a bean bag in his bedroom now but I don’t think it will be long before he out grows it. This mini armchair from George at Asda is so cute, the red would bring a burst of colour to any room and the little sail boats are just adorable. I can picture Leo snuggled up in it now with his nose in a book, looking like he can actually read.
Curtains/blinds
Something Leo really needs (and me if I’m honest), is a good set of blackout blinds. Nap times are always a struggle, with light coming in through the window it is difficult to convince a 2 year old it is time for sleep, this is also a problem at night time in the summer. I am tempted to move Leo to the attic bedroom just so I can get him these cute Disney blackout blinds from VELUX. There is a great Disney range available at VELUX, Leo loves Mickey and I am sure he would be delighted to see him peeping at his window. To go with the navy on his new chair, I would get him these lovely, navy curtains from Amazon, they are thermal as well which is great as we don’t have double glazing (!).
Added touches
As this is a wishlist, I thought I would add a few other items that I would add to Leo’s bedroom if I had a bottomless pit of cash, or if it grew on trees.
Personalised jungle clock from Zazzle £24.85
Jumbo teddy hammock from Amazon £4.92
I think that is probably more than enough stuff for a 2 year old’s bedroom, don’t you? What do you think of these products, would you buy any for your little ones bedroom? If you could give your child’s bedroom a make over, what would you do? Let me know 🙂

OMG that Thomas bed rocks!!! I want one. Love the decal, totally something I want to add to my little girl's room at some stage because they really do transform a room. Thanks so much for linking up to #coolmumclub lovely xx
I so want one of those children's bookshelves! & I love those family tree pictures too, though I made my eldest a fabric one for her wall. #coolmumclub
I love the bookcase, what a great way to inspire early learning
I love that wall art! so cute! – My little Pickle has a lightning mcqueen version of that bed and it's fab and really durable so I recommend 🙂 Thanks for sharing #PicknMix
Great post, I love your picks. I remember LP wanting a bed similar to that Thomas one! The bookshelves are really great, I should get more for LP, he's got so many books he needs more than one bookcase! 🙂

I love that bed, we are thinking of getting it for our little boy too #picknmix xx
What a whole load of brilliant choices – I particularly love the bed, the wardrobe and the chair. Thank you so much for linking to #PoCoLo x
My little girl is only 10.5 months and loves books so I really love the bookshelf! #KCACOLS
Such cute choices here! My boys are almost 10 and 11 so when we re-do their bedroom next year it will be more grown up choices for them which seems crazy to me, looking forward to it though! Thanks for linking up to #PicknMix

Love this! Those library letter shelves are great, and I really like that style of wardrobe. I was really lucky and won an Ikea voucher when I was pregnant so we could get a set of nursery furniture. I'd still love to make my daughter's room look more 'professional' if you know what I mean though – less of my slap dash paint work. I'd make it look really girly, frilly curtains and pelmets and stuff like that. I except she will turn out a tomboy and not want it though. 😉 #KCACOLS
Such wonderful choices. This room sounds picture perfect!xx #KCACOLS

I live the Thomas bed and the book case. That little chair is so cute and would just make a lively reading corner. They are so cute when they sit 'reading' their books, aren't they?! #fartglitter
Great ideas. My husband has always out two rails in the boys wardrobe. Their stuff is too small to need full length hanging space, plus it doubles the hanging space you have. #maternitymondays
It all looks great, but the real star of your choices for me is that chair. It's so funky and a great place for some quiet time 🙂 #pocolo
Still a fab post – I just love your ideas. I'm just popping back from #KCACOLS to say thank you for linking up and hope you can link up again next week @withfranca #KCACOLS
Such a nice room he will have. I especially love the little touches. We need to do something about my tots room when we move. I hope we have more permission to decorate in our next space.
Thanks for linking up to #fartglitter.
Ah sounds and looks like it will be a fabulous room for a little boy 🙂 I especially love that wall art frame. I love things like that x
These are such awesome things! I think they would make an epic toddler bedroom! I love the book shelves and the clock =)
aww I love the wall art and the book storage. I did Boo's when she went into a toddler bed. I am already looking for tractor themed things for G 😉 #MaternityMondays
The popularity of the organic baby mattress is on the rise. Not only is this type of mattress imperative in regard to raising healthy children, it is better for the environment as well.
Most babies sleep at least 10 to 14 hours a day. Allowing them to do so on a synthetic baby mattress, for even a short period of time, poses substantial health-related risksrisks that many parents are not aware of. Purchasing an organic baby mattress eliminates these dangers altogether.
The problem with a vinyl and polyurethane foam mattress is that it continually gives off toxic gases that are inhaled by the individual sleeping on it. These fumes are the result of toxic chemicals, such as formaldehyde and arsenic that are used during the manufacturing process of the mattress.
Great.. Thanks for sharing
You’re welcome 🙂
