10 reasons why I finally feel like an adult

You know how people say age is just a number? Or, it doesn’t matter how old you are, it’s about how old you feel? Well, although I have been legally classed as an adult for the past 6 years, sometimes I still feel like a kid. I may be 24 but I often just want someone to hold my hand and make all the big grown up decisions for me and, you know, sort out all my bills and stuff.

You would think being married since I was 21 and being someone’s mother for the last 2 years would make me feel like an adult, wouldn’t you? Some days having the big responsibility of looking after a child makes me feel like one myself, wishing someone would come and help me out, stroke my hair and tell me it’s all going to be ok. However, now in my mid 20’s, I finally feel like I am starting to become a fully, fledged adult – a proper grown up if you will. This is not thanks to any major life changes, just silly little things that I think, in my funny old brain, only adults do!

10. There’s this little person who calls me Mummy.

There it is, 10 little things that make me feel all grown up. Do you have days where you don’t feel as old as you are? Is there anything you would add to this list? As always, let me know 🙂

It's weird the things that make you feel grown-up, they're not always the things you think they are. Great list!

I love number 9. With elections coming up next year, I have all of a sudden found myself following the candidates very closely and trying to figure out who I want to vote for. I'm even going to debate watch parties…apparently this is adulting??

Another one to add to your list when you can, making your first big furniture or appliance purchase. Buying my living room furniture was a big "holy crap! I'm an adult" moment for me. Then picking out my washing and dryer was another one.

Now I just find myself waking up most mornings thinking "I don't want to adult today!!". #abitofeverything

Last year I voted for the first time that made me feel proper grown up! I can parallel park at all but getting really excited over my new hoover and carpet cleaner made it finally hit home I am now a fully fledged adult! #abitofeverything

I'm 32 and sort feel like a grown up. Sometimes. It makes me realise I'm an adult when other people trust me with their children….and I manage to keep mine and theirs all alive and in one piece!! 😀 #abitofeverything Stupid comment box won't let me post from my wordpress account but hi! I'm Pink Pear Bear! 🙂

Ha yes! All so true (minus the coffee part – vom). I've given up with Hollyoaks now though – it really was getting bad haha #thelist

I love your post! Yep, yep, yep, you are officially an adult now! Especially with the reverse/parallel parking one! Hope to see you again at #abitofeverything

I'm 26 and still feel like a child. I can't believe I have a child. I'm sure I will feel more an adult when she finally calls me mummy. This list is so spot on! Although instead of Gin I like Red Wine now. 🙂

Man you ARE a proper grown up. I still feel like I'm waiting, like I'm gonna wake up and understand interest rates and the like. #fartglitter

Have you tried getting a better deal on your energy bills? That is up there. Never have I been so bored or felt so grown up!

Ha ha – exactly who does watch Hollyoaks? I know I'm an adult 'cos I sometimes read the main part of the Sunday paper (the bit with the news) not just the supplements and my doctor looks like a boy scout (seriously)! #fartglitter

The hollyoaks one is definitely an adult perspective! I used to love it…now I think it is ridiculous…but yet i still watch the rest of the soaps haha xx

  13. November 23, 2015 / 11:00 pm

Hehe, loved this! Some days I feel adult, others not so much… I can't drive at all, but I am elected so I think that's like double points on #9 to make up for it, lol. 🙂 #KCACOLS

Haha- this list is me! I still feel like such a kid. Yesterday I actually said, 'No, Baby. Mama is playing with this dinosaur.' and I meant it. Send help. Or alcohol.
Thanks for linking up to #fartglitter x

haha this list is funny. To be honest I'm 38 (yes I know I'm old LOL) and I still feel sometimes that I act like a kid lol I guess we will always have that little cheeky part inside that motivate you in life. You can't be a grown up all the time otherwise it is too boring! Well at least when the kids are not watching!! LOL Thanks for sharing this at #KCACOLS. I hope to see you again next Sunday! 🙂 xx

  17. November 25, 2015 / 9:59 pm

Thanks. I know, who would have thought reverse parking could result in such an awakening?!xx

  18. November 25, 2015 / 10:03 pm

Oh wow, go you! I read up a little bit about the candidates for this years general election but nothing as detailed as you. Ah yes, I will keep that in mind for if/when we buy some furniture. Some days being an adult is fun but most of the time I could do without all the extra responsibility that comes with it..like bills!xx

  19. November 25, 2015 / 10:04 pm

Eeep getting excited over buying a hoover is bad, there is no going back for you now 🙂 xx

  20. November 25, 2015 / 10:05 pm

Haha, I don't think I would cope looking after more than one child at a time..you're such a grown up 🙂 xx

  21. November 25, 2015 / 10:06 pm

Yay for adulthood!! (well, sometimes it's yay..) xx

  22. November 25, 2015 / 10:08 pm

It took me a while to like coffee but now I loove it. Yea I have stopped watching it now too, the story lines have always been far fetched but now they are just stupid! I should start watching documentaries or something instead…xx

  23. November 25, 2015 / 10:09 pm

Thank you. I know so proud I can reverse park, especially when I do it with zero help from my husband. Thanks for hosting xx

  24. November 25, 2015 / 10:11 pm

Red wine is awful! Maybe I am not as much of a grown up as I thought, haha. Yes, once your little one starts calling you Mum you will feel so much older, it's weird but wonderful at the same time.xx

  25. November 25, 2015 / 10:12 pm

    Umm, what's an interest rate?!xx

  26. November 25, 2015 / 10:14 pm

Oh no I haven't but it sounds incredibly dull. I did compare my car insurance prices this year but I did it because I wanted a meerkat teddy so I don't think that one counts?xx

  27. November 25, 2015 / 10:17 pm

Ha me, well up until last month I watched it *shame*. Oh yes, the doctor point is a good one. I am yet to find a doctor I think looks like a boy scout but I get what you mean!xx

  28. November 25, 2015 / 10:19 pm

I know! I used to watch it every single day, now I have over a months worth of episodes waiting to be viewed on my Sky+, think I am just going to delete them.xx

  29. November 25, 2015 / 10:19 pm

Thank you :). Yes, you definitely get double points for number9 xx

  30. November 25, 2015 / 10:21 pm

Thank you for hosting :). Haha, gotta love a toy dinosaur. I get really sad when Leo knocks down a brick tower that I have been working really hard on!xx

  31. November 25, 2015 / 10:22 pm

Wow, that is a big one. I can't even think about schools for my boy yet or I will just start crying xx

  32. November 25, 2015 / 10:25 pm

Haha, yes sometimes we have to be a big kid. Living life from an adult perspective all the time would be so dull. Sometimes it is better to just be silly and we can totally get away with it because we get to act like kids with our own kids (am I making sense?haha). Thanks for hosting #KCACOLS xx

  34. November 26, 2015 / 10:12 am

Lol this is a good list. Oh gosh not sure I have ever not felt grown up. You see from my early teens I ended up caring for my younger siblings and had babysitting jobs etc. Xx #KCACOLS

  35. November 27, 2015 / 4:30 pm

Yep I'm definitely not ready to be a grownup! Haha great post! #KCACOLS

  36. November 28, 2015 / 8:35 am

They definitely are. Thanks for hosting lovely xx

  37. November 28, 2015 / 8:38 am

Aww, I can imagine looking after children for most of your life would make you feel grown up. Atleast it probably made it a bit easier for you when you had your own baby?I didn't have clue what I was doing haha xx

  38. November 28, 2015 / 8:39 am

Haha, I still feel like that most days!xx
