My 30 thoughts on Instagram

My 30 thoughts on Instagram

Who doesn’t love Instagram? Thousands of tiny squares full of gorgeous images, providing you with inspiration, motivation and a sneak peak into the lives of others. The whole world from every perspective is there for us to see, all we have to do is pick up our smart phone and look. I am no exception of course, I love Instagram., being a blogger as well I find it a really useful tool for connecting with other bloggers.

Although it is one of my favourite social media apps, sometimes Instagram does cause me to think things my non-instagrammer (?) self would find extremely strange.

So, here they are, the bad and the good…my 30 thoughts on Instagram..

1. Is my bio interesting enough? Am I supposed to write something witty in there?

2. Is it acceptable to still have the same profile picture I had when I set up my account 2 years ago?

3. I miss the days where I could have a coffee and didn’t feel the urge to photograph it.

4. Why do people selling weight loss tablets/shakes keep following me? Are they trying to tell me something?

5. Hmm filter dilemma. Valencia makes me look tanned but makes my blue eyes look dark. What to do?!

6. It is a shame that toddler craft ended up a massive mess, now I can’t put a success photo on Instagram.

7. I remember the days when food was for eating and not for photographing.

8. If I make this photo black and white you won’t be able to tell how pale and tired I actually am.

9. What do these hashtags even mean?

10. Oh well, I am going to use them all any way..

11.  How is this persons life so picture perfect. HOW?!

12. Why would anyone buy followers?

13. Please leave me alone spammers.

14. I wish I really was as tanned as I look it all my Instagram photos.

15. I like looking at other bloggers photos but why have all my real life friends disappeared from my feed?

16. I wonder if anyone has turned notifications on so they can see my photos?

17. Hmm, doubt it.

18. I love photos of nature, I wish I could get up early enough to photograph the sunrise.

19. All these pictures of cake are making me hungry,

20. Yay, new follower!

21. Do I have to follow them back? Is it mean if I don’t?

22. Someone just liked pretty much all my photos. I don’t know whether to be grateful or be worried because I may have a stalker?

23. That quote is so inspiring, I feel it deserves more than just a like.

24. Is it bad Instagram etiquette to post about 10 photos in a row?

25. Oh well, I had a fun day so I’m posting them all anyway.

26. Aww I love Instagram communities, such a great idea.

27. I miss the days where I could happily just take a photo. Now I have to adjust the brightness/contrast/saturation and add a filter before I can even consider sharing it with the world.

28. Is it naughty to put #nofilter on a photo where you are looking good for once but have, in fact, used a filter?

29. Blurry backgrounds are cool, I wonder how people do that?

30. I think it’s probably time I stopped scrolling through my Instagram feed now.

So there you go, 30 little thoughts that have popped into my head while I have been wasting time on Instagram. Have you ever thought similar things? Are you also slightly obsessed with Instagram? It’s a real problem you guys, #thestruggleisreal . Let me know what you think 🙂

Yes to all of these! It's a crazy world we live in nowadays – we should just put our phones down and actually enjoy the moment! #pickmix

I have yet to dive into instagram.I did download it, so I suppose that counts. Really considering giving it a go, who doesn't wanna look tanned!

Ah yes, I've often used a hashtag that I had no idea what it meant, but it had millions of photos attached to it. Oh well, anything to be seen, right? Thanks for sharing #PicknMix

I love Instagram and like you I'm completely addicted. If you like instagram communities you should check out my last venture #WorldOfLittles. Also, I'm pretty sure no one has as perfect life as it might appear on their instagram feeds 🙂 #TheList

haha I loved this! I've had every single one of these thoughts at some point or other. I absolutely love instagram and spend far too long on it – especially since it brings absolutely zero traffic to my blog, but it's just so addictive! I do miss the days though when I could just eat my lunch before thinking about taking a photo. x #TheList

I'm on Instagram but think I should probably make more effort with the pictures I put up. They aren't always 'beautiful' but I guess they are 'real'. They show our lives from an honest perspective, not sugar coated. x #twinklytuesday

I love this! I have Instagram but I'm no good at making my photos look 'good' as I end up focusing on them far too much and spend too much time thinking about them! 🙂

aww love this – i am too a massive IG fan – spend far too ,long on it! Love your take on it – life will never be viewed the same way by an Instagrammer – but in all fairness I would argue that we see more now and for the better – we really look #BloggerClubUK

I'm so addicted to Instagram! I do need to put my phone down sometimes and just step back and enjoy a meal / cup of coffe / day out – my husband is good at keeping me in check (even if it does annoy me at the time!) #bloggerclubuk

  13. May 4, 2016 / 9:22 am

I love instagram, its my favourite, I mainly post on craft stuff so have built up a nice community of people who share and encourage. I don't tend to follow for a follow over there tho. #bloggerclubuk

  14. May 4, 2016 / 11:29 am

Haha this made me laugh. I love instagram but I don't think I use it right at all! I need to leave it alone as I so addicted to it! #bloggerclubuk

  15. May 4, 2016 / 12:53 pm

Spot on! I'm a bit addicted to Instagram myself, despite all the wrap salespeople and the ones hawking supplements. I get a lot of those! You cracked me up with "I remember when food was for eating, not for photographing." The boys still can't figure out why I have to take a picture of my plate before we eat dinner lol. Most of those pics don't make it on though, because photographing food is not as easy as it sounds. I made a fantastic new dish and I want to put the recipe on the blog, but in pics it just looks like a big mess. So yes #thestruggleisreal. #twinklytuesdays

I love Instagram and I have definitely turned into one of those that photograph everything for Instagram!!! #CoolMumClub

I am relatively new to Instagram and have already wasted so much time on and thoughts on it – many of these included! Thanks for linking up to #coolmumclub lovely

  18. May 5, 2016 / 12:21 pm

I love Instagram, I'm definitely addicted to it. The amount of spammers and wrap accounts has definitely increased over the last few months but even they haven't put me off. #bloggerclubuk

I have all of these thoughts too! I used to think that way with the follow back but it can get tough to keep up with the following. I love the blury backgrounds too – there are apps that can do that! What did we do with our spare time before Instagram anyway?! Thanks so much for linking up with #bloggerclubuk x

  21. May 11, 2016 / 11:11 am

Haha, yup I do that too! Facebook is for all photos and Instagram is only for the best ones haha xx

  22. May 11, 2016 / 11:12 am

It isn't for everyone. Sometimes I think what's the point too but I can't resist all the pretty pictures xx

  23. May 11, 2016 / 11:12 am

    Here here!!xx

  24. May 11, 2016 / 11:13 am

Exactly, nothing like a good tan – even if it is created with a filter. You should definitely give it a try, just to see what it's all about xx

  25. May 11, 2016 / 11:14 am

Haha, glad I'm not the only one!xx

  26. May 11, 2016 / 11:15 am

Ohh, I will go check out #WorldOfLittles ..sounds fab. Yes, no one cam be picture perfect all the time xx

  27. May 11, 2016 / 11:16 am

Those were the good days weren't they, when you didn't woory about photographing your food?!Haha. Yup, instagram does nothing for my blog either but I love it anyway. Glad I'm not the only one who is slightly addicted xx

  28. May 11, 2016 / 11:17 am

Haha, Instagram is great for nosy people 🙂 xx

  29. May 11, 2016 / 11:19 am

Real pictures are great, they are much easier to relate too and often more entertaining to look at xx

  30. May 11, 2016 / 11:21 am

It can be so easy to spend ages trying to perfect an image and normally they look fine to start with!xx

  31. May 11, 2016 / 11:22 am

That is a good point! I guess if you're always on the look out for beautiful things to photograph you will start to see the world around you in a different way. I think it is impossible to just quickly look at instagram xx

  32. May 11, 2016 / 11:23 am

I love crafts, I will go find you on instagram now. No, I don't follow for follow either, unless I know them/like to look of their feed xx

  33. May 11, 2016 / 11:24 am

Yay, another addict haha. Yes my hubby is always telling me to stop taking photos but I just can't help it most of the time xx

  34. May 11, 2016 / 11:25 am

You're not the only one so don't worry 🙂 xx

  35. May 11, 2016 / 11:27 am

Oh I am so happy to hear I am not t he only one who gets all these weight loss people following me. Haha, yes you can't possibly just eat food anymore. Aww so annoying for you that you couldn't get the pictures right for your blog xx

  36. May 11, 2016 / 11:27 am

Haha, join the club 🙂 xx

  37. May 11, 2016 / 11:28 am

The spammers are so annoying aren't they?! Yay, a fellow Instagram addict 🙂 xx

  38. May 11, 2016 / 11:29 am

It takes up much more brain time than you think doesn't it?! It is a real time waster but you just can't help but love it hey xx

  39. May 11, 2016 / 11:30 am

You have such a beautiful Instagram account Aby I'm not surprised you spend so much time thinking about it 🙂 xx

  40. May 11, 2016 / 11:31 am

Ohh, I need those apps in my life. I absolutely love the blurry background. I can't remember what I used to do before instagram, haha xx
