Ever since my teens I have been obsessed with Converse All Star trainers. I am not sure where this love comes from but it probably has something to do with when I wanted to be a rock star and convinced my parents to buy me a guitar when I was about 12. Obviously dreams of rock star fame faded but my love of converse shoes has continued to grow and now, aged 25, I am a proud owner of three different pairs. My faithful converse have served me well since becoming a Mum and I am totally of the opinion that all busy mums need at least one pair of converse in their life. Here’s why..
5 reasons all busy mums need a pair of Converse
1 They’re versatile – You can wear your converse with any outfit and they are going to look good. Busy mum on the school run and just thrown any old outfit on? Don’t worry, your converse will go with whatever you’re wearing and think of that valuable time you are saving not having to route around for different shoes every morning. I have worn my Converse with leggings, jeans, shorts, dresses – everything!
2 Perfect for running around in – So we all know that our little ones like to keep us on our toes and busy mums can spend a large chunk of the day running around after the kids. Converse were made as an athletic shoe, for basketball to be precise, so they are totally up to the challenge of all the steps us busy Mamas do every single day. As they are technically a sports shoe they are very comfortable to wear whilst you are running at 100pmh down the street to catch your toddler who’s gone rogue.
3 Brighten up the ‘Mummy uniform’ – Does anyone else have a mum uniform? Mine consists of black leggings, long vest tops, shirts, skinny jeans and some kind of knitwear, all worn in rotation throughout the week. To be honest, my mummy style needs a bit of colour injected into it but at least my shoes always brighten up my outfit. There are so many different colours and patterns of Converse to choose from, you will definitely find a pair to suit your style.
4 Serious lasting power – Converse shoes last for years. I wear my Converse most days and I have owned one pair for 4 years and they are still in amazing condition. With kids who’s feet seem to grow at an unbelievably fast rate it can be easy to end up racking up a pretty hefty bill for shoes every couple of months. I am not saying you should never spend money on new shoes for yourself but it is good to know that you have at least one pair of comfortable shoes at home that are going to serve you and your busy feet well for a number of years.
5 They don’t cost the earth – As parents there is always something that needs paying for: kids clothes, lunch box food, birthday presents, days out – I could go on. When it comes to buying something as essential as a good pair of shoes for ourselves we don’t want to break the bank but also don’t want to compromise on quality either. As with lots of brands you have the cheaper shoes and ones with a bigger price tag for those who want to splash out a bit. The price of Converse varies between colours and style, yes they are a bit pricier than the rip off High Street alternatives but you can easily find great deals online and suddenly a pair of £65 high tops are only costing you £35. Whatever you pay though I would say they are worth every single penny.
What do you think? Are you a Mum who loves Converse too? Maybe you weren’t keen on them before, have I convinced you? By the way, I am not secretly associated with Converse, I really am just a super fan!

I love my Converse! It’s worth checking out TKMaxx as they sometimes have them for less than £35. I think I paid £30 for my last pair – burgundy suede with black dots. (Sounds grim, but they’re actually quite fun).

I love Converse! They used to be pretty much the only shoes I wore! In fact I’ve still got a pair of yellows with bunnies on lying around somewhere (they seriously need to be thrown out – I just can’t bring myself to do it!). I haven’t bought any since I was at uni, and I graduated 4 years ago. Eek! Thank you for writing this post, it has given me legitimate reason to go out and buy a new pair 😀

I LOVE Converse! I used to wear them all the time, they look so good! I’ve recently started wearing Vans as they’re easier to slip on, but Converse are so much prettier!
I love my converse – I like the slip on ones where I don’t even need to bother with laces. I basically put them on as soon as I can’t wear boots anymore.
I don’t mind the name as long as the shoes are pretty and comfortable. Right now I live in my keds 🙂 Red and polka dotted. #thelistlinky

LOVE my converse have white low & black high. Want a 3rd but deliberating over colour! #kcacols lifeinthemumslane
Totally agree with all of these! And I’m sat here, outside a cafe watching the kids play in ones I picked up in New York. They are the best. #thelistlinky
I’ve never worn a pair of Converse, if it’s not summer and Birkenstock or flip flop season, then I’m usually in trainers – walking trainers usually. But the converse might be a slightly less clumpy version – although not waterproof for winter (although then I wear boots) #thelistlinky
My kids are so into these. I’ve never had a pair but now rather fancy the idea!
I have a white pair and love them! Thanks for linking for #marvmondays xx
I’d be lost without them! #marvmondays
