24 weeks pregnancy update

24 weeks pregnancy update

Welcome back to another pregnancy update, these weeks are just flying by! I am now 24 weeks pregnant and baby is now officially viable. If for some reason I was to give birth now, doctors would do all they can to help baby survive. Fingers crossed nothing like that happens though, I am happy to wait out the full 40 weeks of pregnancy. So, here is what has been going on with me and bump over the last month and how I am feeling at 24 weeks pregnant.

How have I been feeling? – To be honest, I have been feeling pretty stressed out. I am not blaming this completely on hormones though as there are other things going on at the minute that have been causing me to feel a bit under pressure. Things on the blogging front have got busy and I have a few sponsored posts coming up, I am so happy with this as I haven’t had much work recently but it all seemed to come at once! I’ve also landed my first ever freelance job filming a promotional video but I am struggling to find the time to get everything done. Leo has been quite badly behaved lately and we are hitting potty training pretty hard at the minute so I have not had much time to rest. Apart from feeling stressed over these things, hormones wise I’m doing Ok. It still doesn’t take much to make me cry and I can get a little grumpy sometimes but, on the whole, I would say I’m mostly my normal happy self. Oh, I have had a bit of Mum guilt recently as I feel as though my pregnancy is turning me into a bit of a rubbish Mummy to Leo, I can’t wait to be back to normal completely once baby arrives.

Any symptoms? – I have been getting pretty achy boobs lately and bump has grown a lot so I feel really heavy now, definitely need to go bra shopping! Hardly any of my clothes fit properly either (can’t wait to buy some new maternity clothes) and I’m spending way to much time in the mornings trying to find something to wear. In the last few days I have developed this really horrible pelvic pain every time I stand up or walk, I have no idea what it is. Baby is kicking away like normal so I’m not concerned, I guess it must be some kind of muscle pain? It really does hurt a lot to move around now, if anyone has/had this please let me know what it’s called and how I can help ease the pain, having a busy toddler means I can’t just lay in bed all day. Apart from this pain and the stretching body, I’m not experiencing any other symptoms at 24 weeks pregnant.

My bump at 22 weeks, rocking the maternity jeans!

Have I done any shopping/preparation? – Nope, I still haven’t bought anything. I’m feeling a lot more chilled out this time around and baby’s due date is still 16weeks away, that’s plenty of time to get everything sorted.

What food am I loving/hating/craving? – My thoughts on food have pretty much gone back to normal now. I’m no longer starving all the time or desperate to eat/avoid certain foods. I have been wanting sugary food a lot more than usual but I am trying really hard not to act on it, I’ve already put on a stone and I don’t want to be gaining loads of weight just for the sake of it. Although if we have a bar of chocolate ‘perfect for sharing’, I always end up eating it all to myself.

Have I had any appointments? – I haven’t seen the midwife recently, my next appointment is at 28weeks. This week I have got an appointment with the nurse to get my whooping cough vaccine, I’m not looking forward to that as I’m not a fan of needles and I remember when I was pregnant with Leo I had a dead arm the whole day after – oww!

Have I felt baby move? – Baby is moving loads. The movements are still most noticeable in the mornings and at night but over the past couple weeks I have been feeling kicks after eating and the odd little flutter when I’m walking around too. Yesterday, Oli Leo and I were all lying on a blow up bed as we’d been staying at my sisters and my bump moved! We all saw it and were so shocked, this is the first time baby has made my belly move and it was so amazing Leo got to see too. Leo has been being really sweet, kissing and talking to my bump. Whenever he is talking really loud or singing baby starts moving around, obviously can’t wait to meet big brother Leo already.

Leo having lovely cuddles with bump the other day, he is proving to be a lovely big brother already.

What is happening with bump? – Baby is now the size of an ear of corn, about 30cm long and weighs about 600g. Baby’s little lungs are busy developing air sacs and he/she has developed taste buds too. I have been reading my weekly bump updates since I found out I was pregnant, I love finding out how baby is growing in there.

That’s it for this pregnancy update, if you have missed any you can read them all here. I will be back at 28 weeks after I have seen the midwife and will hopefully know a bit more about how baby is doing.

Just so you know, I will be uploading a gender reveal video this week to my youtube channel! I’m so excited to tell you all whether Leo is having a little brother or sister. If you haven’t subscribed you can do so here if you would like, I will also have a six month pregnancy update vlog going live soon.

If you’re pregnant too, how is it all going? Anyone else had this horrible pelvic pain? What do you think is hiding in my bump, boy or girl? I would love to know your thoughts 🙂

Aw I’m just sat waiting for my whooping cough jab at almost 28 weeks. We are so close. The movements are amazing aren’t they? Make sure you rest when you can if feeling a bit emotional. I get the pain when I stand – it’s like someone is hanging a weight from my bits! Think a bit of spd. You’re looking amazing! Can’t wait for the reveal xx #fartglutter

That is exactly what it feels like! It must be this SPD everyone has mentioned, will ask midwife about it as it’s horrible. Hope your injection went ok? I know, your little girly will be a few weeks old by the time my baby arrives probably, I will be very jealous of you by that point I’m sure haha. Thank you for the lovely compliment 🙂 your bump is really cute, can’t believe you’re still going to the gym!xx

Wow! You’ve got a lot going on!! Well done on the sponsored posts and the freelance job-that sounds so exciting!! I had really bad pelvic pain with both pregnancies-the first one was more SPD related-is the pain above and around your pubic bone? If it is, it could be SPD, in which case you can get a physio referral, and get exercises/supports that help! With the second, I had pelvic and hip pain just because he was so big and my joints couldn’t take the weight! I hope you get it sorted out though… As for the gender reveal, I’m throwing my guess in as boy!! I’ll have to pop over to your YouTube channel and find out!! Eeek, exciting!!

Thank you, it is exciting having all this work but a bit stressful that it all arrived at once! Ohh I have heard of spd, perhaps it is that. If it doesn’t get any better I will be visiting the doctor, it is right on my pelvic bone so I guess it is that. I know you’ve seen the gender reveal now, glad you liked it xx

Ah you’re two weeks ahead of me so it’s nice to see what’s to come (or not in the case the case of the pelvic pain!) Definitely get to the bra shop, I’ve been putting it off but bought a couple in the Mothercare sale at the weekend and wished I’d done it sooner, you don’t realise how uncomfortable you are until you wear one that fits without the wires! Hope the pain and stress ease soon, looking forward to reading about the rest of your pregnancy! #FartGlitter

Ohh are you, another October baby yay :). I definitely need to go to the bra shop, I’m still wearing my pre pregnancy bras and I am no way a just a b cup anymore, can’t wait to feel comfortable again. Hopefully you won’t have the pelvic pain too, I didn’t with my first. Do you write bump updates? Will have to pop over for a browse xx

Ah 24 weeks! I remember being a little less worried about both my bumps when we got to this point, knowing there is so much Doctors can do now if the worst happened. We were very lucky though and I delivered on due date each time! Cant wait for the gender reveal video!

Wow! You’re so lucky your babies came on their due date, Leo was 8days over due so I’m not getting my hopes up!xx

I had symphysis pubis dysfunction with my pregnancies which causes horrible pelvic pain and may be what you’re experiencing – well worth mentioning to your midwife when you next see her. I saw a fabulous chiropractor who did a lot to help ease it though. Hope you end up feeling less stressed soon – potty training isn’t much fun at the best of times let alone when you are pregnant. Lovely to be able to see your bump moving now though and to have reached 24 weeks always feels like a good milestone! #twinklytuesday

Ahh yes, others have mentioned this spd. I will have to speak to the midwife about it as by the sounds of it that must be what the pain is, it’s horrible! Ahh I know, potty training is not fun but he’s doing really well.xx

He is doing really well, loves talking to baby and telling everyone there is a baby in my tummy. Not sure how things will be once baby is actually here though xx

Aww – lovely update! Shame you’re feeling a bit stressed & overwhelmed with things to do currently. I feel like that without even being pregnant on top! I think a bit of pelvic pain is usually just things stretching & under pressure, but if particularly bad maybe SPD as others have mentioned. Glad pregnancy progressing well!

Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday
