5 awesome reasons to start a pregnancy blog

5 awesome reasons to start a pregnancy blog

There are so many different reasons people write blogs. Some people start blogging because they want to share their love of fashion, photography or travel. Others spend hours tapping out recipes and healthy lifestyle tips for their readers. There are also the book, TV and game lovers who want to share their reviews and opinions online. Blogs focussing on current issues, politics and lifestyle are easily found floating around the internet – there are even blogs solely about blogging! Like thousands of other bloggers out there, I write about family life and parenthood. I started my blog when Leo was 19 months old back in March 2015 and I am still loving every second of it. After becoming pregnant with my second child at the beginning of this year my blog has grown from just a family lifestyle blog and is now a pregnancy blog too.

I am really enjoying blogging my way through my second pregnancy, I love having somewhere to write and share my thoughts about all things baby bump.

If you are pregnant too and fancy yourself as a blogger, here are 5 reasons why now is a great time to grab your laptop and start your very own pregnancy blog.

5 awesome reasons to start a pregnancy blog.

Visual diary – Blogs are best when they are bursting with photographs and what better way to document your ever growing bump than by writing regular pregnancy updates full of snaps of your growing belly. After your baby has arrived you can look back on all the updates and photographs and see the amazing journey you and your body went through to bring them into the world. Also, once baby comes along you will have a place to share photos of your adorable bundle with all you memories written up alongside them, a lovely way to remember your little ones early days forever.

Pregnancy blog bump updates

Advice and support – If you have something bothering you or are feeling a bit down and alone, then writing about it can really help. You can talk to your partner or friends but sometimes you need to hear from other Mums or Mums-to-be who have been through a similar thing and know exactly how you feel. I recently wrote about how I felt my second pregnancy was turning me into a rubbish Mum and I received so many lovely comments, I was so relieved to read I wasn’t the only pregnant Mummy feeling this way. Sometimes readers have great advice and sometimes they don’t but the blogging community is always supportive and even if they can’t actually help, your blogging pals will always be there for you and are never shy on dishing out the virtual hugs. Also, by typing up a post about something personal or about your feelings during pregnancy, you may just help another mum-to-be out there. A pregnant lady who has been feeling alone or stressed may stumble across your blog and your honest words and shared experience may be enough to help her feel better.

Review opportunities – If you decide you do in fact love blogging and add a work with me page to your site, your inbox may start to fill up with exciting review opportunities. I have written several reviews since I started my blog but in the next couple weeks I will be testing out and reviewing my first pregnancy related products and I can’t wait! I blog because I love to write and take photographs, any free stuff I get is just an exciting bonus.

Work opportunities – Like with the review opportunities, if you have a work with me page on your blog and you’re producing regular good quality content, brands and PR agencies may be interested in collaborating with you. Sponsored posts are a great way to earn a bit of extra cash and if you keep blogging once baby is here (which you will – it’s addictive) you will have a bit more money in the pot to help see you through maternity leave.

Meet other Mums to be – Once you set foot into the blogging world it is inevitable that you will soon get chatting to other bloggers. Bloggers read blogs, fact, and pregnant bloggers love to read pregnancy blogs. Once you start writing about pregnancy, if you share your posts on social media and get involved in linkys, it won’t be long before another pregnant blogger finds you. Blog friends are fab at the best of times but when they are also going through the emotional journey that is pregnancy they are extra special. Although you may never meet in person, you can share your pregnancy experience with each other via the internet and be there to offer a supportive comment on each others blogs when it is needed.

So there you have it, 5 awesome reasons to start a pregnancy blog. If you are currently pregnant and think blogging might just be for you then I say go for it, you won’t regret it!

Did you write a blog when you were pregnant? What is your favourite thing about writing a pregnancy blog? Also, if you’re pregnant but you don’t blog, have I convinced you to give it a go? I would love to know your thoughts.

Love pregnancy blogs! I didn’t start blogging until my little man was 3 months old but hopefully if I have another pregnancy I can use my blog to document it like you. So nice to have the memories.

I imagine blogging when you’re pregnant is great – being able to really share your experience, in real time, with other pregnant mummies. I started my blog after having my second child, but I still love the sense of community that you get from blogging and ‘meeting’ other parents. #bigpinklink

Yes the community is great, it is nice to have so many other munms to chat to and all I have to do is pick up my phone! I wish I had started mine in my first pregnancy but I am glad I got around to it eventually.xx

I couldn’t agree more – in fact the other day I was talking to a friend about my blog and she was saying how much she regrets not writing down more of the experiences we went through when the kids were younger. Fab post and keep going with your fabulous blog! #bigpinklink

Ah these really are awesome reasons! This is such a great community, and having a visual diary is going to be great when the little munchkins are old enough to look back on it!

I know, I had no idea how lovely the blogging community was before I started. I can’t wait to look back on the pictures one day and hopefully the updates from the early days will stop me considering having another baby when I inevitably get broody again!xx

Yes, these are excellent reasons to write a pregnancy blog!! I’ve loved seeing your bump pictures and updates, so it will be so exciting for the readers who have followed your progress, to see how heavy the baby is, what you name him, what the labour was like etc!! I really wish I’d started blogging when I was pregnant now, mine were 2 and 1 when I started, and because I’m so rubbish and disorganised, I don’t have a record of any of the stuff I’d liked to have kept a note of-if I’d been blogging, it’d all be here… I think meeting other pregnant mums, and offering support to any unsure pregnant ladies, are also fab reasons to have a pregnancy blog too!!

How on EARTH did I not know you were pregnant?!!!!! Oh my good grief, I don’t think I’ve ever used so many exclamation marks. Honestly I’m speechless. It’s not like I don’t read your blog! Glad you’re enjoying it. Don’t think I’ll be starting one of those ha ha. #BigPinkLink

Obviously I couldn’t agree more – I am so glad I started my blog whilst pregnant it’s amazing to look back at and as you say, sharing your stories with other Mums and reassuring each other is wonderful. Love your writing hun – a great post xx #bloggerclubuk

I hadn’t started blogging when I was expecting BB and didn’t blog about my pregnancy with Little B until I was 20 weeks as I’d had two miscarriages beforehand. I feel I missed out on early pregnancy blogging! #twinklytuesday

I really wish that I had discovered blogging while I was pregnant with my two. I’ve written the odd post about pregnancy but it’s not quite the same as writing it while you’re actually experiencing it. You will have such a lovely collection of posts to look back on in years to come. Thanks for linking with #fartglitter x

I have just started documenting my second pregnancy – but not as in depth as I would have liked! Unfortunately the first trimester wiped me out so much that I just couldn’t find the time to document it! Now I am in my second trimester and feeling much better I am planning to keep on documenting it as I go along! #BloggerClubUK
