Brr, it’s starting to get cold out there now, isn’t it? I have well and truly declared the flip flops out of action and can often be found cursing myself these days for being optimistic about the weather and not bringing out a coat with me. I do love Autumn though and one of my favourite things about this time of year is the fashion. I am loving all the mustard and burnt orange clothes in the shops at the moment, all the chunky knits seriously appeal to my inner teddy bear and you can never go wrong with a good comfortable winter boot in my eyes. I was in need of a bit of an autumnal injection of clothes into my wardrobe so I was very happy when fashion website JD Williams offered to send me some bits to try. Here’s what I thought of them..

Can we talk about chunky knits, just for a second? Not a year goes by where I don’t add a new knitted jumper or cardigan to my wardrobe, the chunkier the better as far as I’m concerned. Something I have been desperate for though is a cardigan or jumper with really warm and really big cosy sleeves. I get cold really easily and I like to wear something thick underneath a coat when we’re out; basically, I like to feel like I have got a mini radiator strapped to me otherwise I will just complain about the cold. I found this gorgeous black chunky knit cardigan on the JD Williams website, the wool is so soft and warm and because the sleeves are batwing style, they help to keep me seriously snug and warm. I have worn this cardigan with a coat on the colder days we have had recently but it’s thick enough to wear by itself on days when it’s milder. The cardigan has become my school run staple and it’s perfect for keeping me toasty when we are rushing to school in the mornings. I love that it looks stylish too though and have worn it for walks in the woods, out to the cinema and out for coffee too. As the wool is black it means this cardigan can compliment almost any outfit, perfect for someone like me who likes to get lots of use out of their clothes.

When it’s starting to get cold out, what’s the other autumn fashion essential you need? Yup, a nice big wooly scarf. I received this cream cable knit scarf from JD Williams and I am in love with it. Just like the cardigan, the wool is so soft and warm and the neutral cream colour means it can be warn with lots of different outfits and colours. The scarf is also very chunky so it is perfect for those cold days where there’s a nippy breeze and you need to wrap up extra warm. Like jumpers and cardigans, I am a bit of a scarf hoarder and I am very happy to add this beaut to my collection.

Like I said at the beginning of this post, when it comes to autumn fashion, as well as cosy clothes, I also need some comfortable and pretty boots in my life. I absolutely love these mid calf boots I received from JD Williams. They are a gorgeous tan colour, perfect for this time of year and they make me feel like I am about to go horse riding or that I should have a cow girl hat on my head and a lasso in my hand! I really love these boots andย  as someone who isn’t very tall but hates wearing heels, I really appreciate the small chunky heel that gives you a bit of height but none of the pain of wearing high heels. Another feature of these boots that I appreciate as a smaller woman is the adjustable calf buckle. If you have slim legs, there are several holes on the buckle so you can get the boots to fit you perfectly. I always prefer boots with a zip and not ones you just have to try and tug on and these boots pass the test there too. They are lined with a soft warm material so there’s no risk of freezing feet when you are wearing them. I would have liked them to be a bit narrower but if your feet are on the wider side you will find these boots fit well and are extremely comfortable.

If you love autumn fashion too and need to update your wardrobe for the season, head on over the J D Williams website. There is lots of knitwear, coats, autumn clothing accessories and boots to choose from. I will say this though, I am a size 8 and struggled to find many pieces in my size, they may have just been sold out though so it’s worth having a look to see what you can find if you are a small size. Prices vary considerably on the website but if you are on a budget you will still be able to find some clothes that you love and that don’t break the bank. The clothes and boots I received are amazing quality and I know they are going to last me a long time and I am confident I won’t be having to replace them all next autumn.

Happy shopping Mama’s! Treat yourselves to a little something, you totally deserve it.
