Back to school essentials with Spider-Man and the Disney Store

Leo is starting school next month. I am only just accepting the fact that my baby boy has turned four years old and I am struggling to get my head around the fact he is going to primary school in just a matter of weeks. Although there are many things I am dreading about my not so little man starting school, the manic morning rush to get out on time just being one of them, there are lots of things I am excited about too. One of those things is buying all the back to school essentials for Leo so he can start the new term with everything he needs. We have received lots of amazing back to school products from the Disney Store to review and, let me just say this, my boy is going to be the envy of all his Spider-Man adoring friends come September.

Back to school essentials with the Disney Store

When you think about back to school essentials what comes to mind? For me, when I think back to the beginning of a new school year I can always remember getting excited about buying a new pencil case and filling it with loads of smelly gel pens (remember them?) and I have always had a soft spot for a pretty notebook too. When I asked Leo what he thinks he is going to need when he starts big school this is the list of back to school essentials he came up with:

Hmm, well it is clear to see that Leo is hoping he will be doing a lot more playing than sitting down in a classroom and learning when he starts school. I did laugh when he said he wanted there to be a bouncy castle at school and, obviously, my heart melted when he told me he wanted to take his baby brother to school with him. The Disney Store were not able to send Leo a bouncy castle in the post or a years supply of ham sandwiches and they were unable to make it so Leo could bring his brother to school with him but they have managed to tick one thing off Leo’s checklist: Spider-Man.

While Leo may not have received any Spider-Man toys to take to school with him (the kid can dream) he did receive a big bundle of Spider-Man back to school essentials (actual essentials, not ones like on Leo’s fantasy list).  This year the Disney Store are stocking up on school kit  from all your favourite characters in the Back to School range; there are Frozen, Cars, Moana, Spider-Man and loads more to choose from.

Leo received:

Spider-Man water bottle
Spider-Man lunch bag
Spider-Man gadget pencil case
Spider-Man filled pencil case

I am really impressed with the quality of these products. The water bottle is big (1260ml) and looks like it could definitely survive getting accidently dropped or kicked over in the playground. The lunch bag is brilliant, there is a large zip up compartment at the bottom for food storage as well as a big front pocket which has a net in the back for holding food securely and has plenty of space for a yummy packed lunch for your little one to enjoy. The lunch bag also has space for you to write your child’s name as well as an adjustable strap or handle so your child can easily carry their lunch to school themselves.

Leo is totally obsessed with the Spider-Man gadget pencil case. This is a really sturdy case for your child to store their pens and pencils and your little super hero will love it as it has lots of stationary hidden away in super secret compartments. There are buttons located around the top of the pencil case that you press to reveal sticky tape, scissors, a pencil sharpener and a rubber. Let’s be honest, some kids can find the idea of learning to write or colouring in quite boring, how could they possibly ever feel bored with a pencil case this cool?

Because everyone knows you can never ever have enough stationary, Leo has also got a Spider-Man ready filled pencil case . There is so much stuff in this Spider-Man case: felt tips, ruler, notebook, rubber, pencil sharpener, glue, crayons – there are 30 pieces of stationary altogether! The inside of this pencil case is fab too as there are stretchy pieces of material that hold everything in place and make it easy for your child to find exactly what it is they need. Leo loves this pencil case and the quality is really good, I can’t see us needing to replace it before the end of this school year.

So while Leo may end up being a bit disappointed when he arrives in to school on his first day and there is not a bouncy castle waiting to greet all the news pupils in the playground and he may be upset he can’t sneak in all his toys and his little brother, I am sure he is going to be feeling like a little super hero with a bag bursting with Spider-Man school equipment. I am hoping having a super hero plastered all over his school kit will help Leo be a brave boy as he settles in to the sometimes intimidating world of big school. I might need to get myself something to make me feel brave too as, if I am being honest with you, I am going to be a blubbering mess waving goodbye to my not so little man on his first day.

Is your child starting school or heading back to the classroom in September? Have you got everything ready or are you feeling a bit unorganised? What do you think your little one would put on a list of back to school essentials?

I’m pretty sure he’s well equipped with all his lovely Spiderman gear. I don”t think he ever goes out of fashion my uncle who is pretty much nearly 50, don’t tell him I told you, he would cry. Yes, so even at 50, he’s pretty much still obsessed! #kcacols

How cool would a bouncy castle at school be lol. The water bottle looks great, it’s definitely one of the things he will need that often gets over looked.
