Fabulous footwear by Chatham

Who doesn’t love a bit of retail therapy every now and then? Since becoming parents, Oli and I don’t really go out of our way to spend money on ourselves anymore. After we have spent a small fortune on bills, the food shop, petrol and general life, there is not always much left over to fund a shopping spree. Whatever spare cash we have is usually spent on doing things for Leo, spoiling him with new toys and going on adventures. If we had the money, I would love to treat myself to a brand new summer wardrobe, full of pretty maternity clothes all bursting with bright summery colours. Oli does not get so excited by shopping, so the idea of spending any disposable income on clothes does not appeal, however, he has been talking about buying himself some new shoes for a while now but we keep spending money on other things. This is where Chatham, a Great British footwear company, came to my hubby’s rescue and he finally got some brand spanking new shoes, without having to even set foot on the local High Street. Result!

For those of you who have not heard of them before, Chatham are the UK’s leading boat shoes manufacturers for men and women, they also cater for little feet too with their children’s range. Although the majority of their shoes have a very nautical look and feel about them, you do not need a boat or even be the slightest bit interested in sailing to enjoy their beautiful footwear. I was asked to review a pair of shoes from Chatham’s men’s footwear range and, being a woman myself, I handed this job over to Oli who was more than happy to help out.

Windsor Goodyear Welted Derby Shoes Review

Chatham review Naptime Natter

Everything about Chatham oozes the word British, from the packaging sporting the Union Jack to the country life feel of their entire footwear range.

My very lucky husband was sent a pair of the Windsor Goodyear Welted Derby shoes , these are made from really soft suede and are a classic brogue with a touch of modern style. The shoes Oli received are a lovely bluish grey but if that’s not your colour they are also available in brown and a navy blue. The grey colours means the shoes go with all different types of coloured trousers and the suede material means they can be worn for smart as well as causal purposes.

Leather sole with rubber grips make these shoes super easy and comfortable to walk in.

These brogues are really comfortable to wear, they slip on easy and have skinny laces for a stylish, minimalist look. The sole of the shoe is made from leather with rubber top pieces for extra grip while walking. Oli has said the shoes are comfortable to wear, fit like a dream and are great for walking in. The Derby shoes also have a small heal making them perfect for anyone wanting a little boost in the height department and also makes the shoes look that little bit more smart.

These brogues look great with casual trousers..

Smart work/suit trousers…

and they even look great with a pair of jeans!

The grey Derby shoes are so versatile too. You could wear them with smart trousers and a shirt to work, a full on suite for a business event or with your best jeans on a night out. Oli is so impressed with the look of these shoes, he loves how smart they are yet they wouldn’t look out of place as part of a more casual outfit. Work meetings, summer nights in a beer garden or country walks with the family, these shoes can really be worn for any occasion.

So time for the big question, are they worth the £119 price tag? Well, according to Oli, yes they most certainly are. Oli absolutely loves his new shoes, he says they are the best pair he’s ever owned and I honestly didn’t even have to bribe him to say that. He loves them and he is looking forward to trying them out with lots of different outfits over the Summer months. Oli says they are definitely worth the price as the quality, comfort and look are all spot on. So men folk, why not treat yourself this month instead of spending the money on everyone else? Or ladies, why not treat the man in your life? These shoes will make a great gift and one that will keep their wearer, and his feet, happy for years to come.

If you like the look of these Chatham shoes or would like to see their full range you can head on over to their website here and if online shopping is not for you, here is a list of shops that stock Chatham footwear.

What do you think of these shoes? Would you/the man in your life like them? When you have the money to, what do you like to treat yourself to? I would love to know 🙂

Disclaimer: I was sent this pair of shoes from Chatham in return for this honest review. All words and opinions are my own (and Oli’s of course!).

I really like those, they would go with anything. I do think it’s worth paying a bit extra for decent shoes because they certainly work hard. Must have a look at the Chatham women’s range now! #triedtested

I totally agree, sometimes it is worth paying a bit extra for shoes as cheap ones can look great but you end up having to replace them more quickly. Ohh the women’s range is lovely too, I fancy getting some of the deck shoes xx

ooh I do like a good shoe! my husband is a fussy one and yet relies (and moans) purely on me to do his shoe shopping for him. My tastes however are very expensive (this is where the moaning starts) but actually £119 for a decent pair of shoes isn’t too bad… especially if like mine, the husband has shoes for a long time. I like the style of these, very much up my street. 🙂 #coolmumclub
