Weaning with HiPP Organic – Introducing the HiPP Buddies

Weaning with HiPP Organic – Introducing the HiPP Buddies

Here at Naptime Natter HQ we love easy and convenient food, it also has to be healthy and taste amazing too though. I love spending time searching Pinterest and cookbooks for yummy recipes and writing out a weekly meal plan before browsing the aisles in the supermarket and dropping fresh and nutritious ingredients into the trolley. However, when it comes to weaning your baby, sometimes even cooking up a 15 minute meal feels impossible and it can get a bit complicated taking homemade baby food out and about with you – this is why I love using pouches. Ever since we started weaning Alex when he was 6 months old, we have used baby food pouches to help him get used to new flavours and textures; we teamed up with HiPP Organic and Alex has loved tasting their wide variety of baby foods as part of his weaning journey. Alex was so excited to receive a selection of HiPP Organic sweet and their brand new savoury pouches to try and we were introduced to the newest members of the HiPP family – the HiPP Buddies!

Who are the HiPP Buddies?

The HiPP Buddies are a group of four fun and colourful little characters who all play a very important part in creating the tasty, nutritious and organic meals for your little ones. Toby the Toucan carries all the ripe fruit from the orchard, Max the Monkey climbs up the trees to pick the fruit, Freddy the Frog hops around gathering up the fruit and Chloe the Chameleon uses her long sticky tongue to help with the harvest.  You can spot all these characters on the vibrant pouch packaging and their pictures are great for getting your little ones more interested in their pouch and the food inside. Alex loves Max the Monkey, I think he relates because they are both cheeky and really noisy!

Introducing brand new flavours

From January 31st you are now able to buy the brand new HiPP Organic savoury pouches. These pouches are a great size for popping in your bag when on the go and you can easily squeeze the contents into a bowl but they are also just the right size and weight for little hands to hold and feed themselves. The resealable cap means if your baby doesn’t eat the whole contents in one go you can securely close the pouch and save the rest for later. The packaging is bright and clearly states the ingredients and the recommended age to give this food to your baby. As with all the HiPP baby food, the ingredients are fresh and organic and the 100% fruit pouches are an easy way of giving your baby 2 of their 5 a day. The savoury pouches don’t contain any fruit, offering these first to your weaning baby is a great way to help stop them developing a sweet tooth and becoming a fussy eater as they grow – a mistake I am now unfortunately paying for. For on the go or when you haven’t had chance to cook at home, I think the HiPP Organic pouches are a perfect dinner time option to ensure your little one is getting a healthy and nutritious meal.

The toddler takeover

I was asked by HiPP to let Alex take control for the day, a scary prospect when your kid is only one and can’t talk but we managed to have fun with it. Alex decided he wanted to try one of the sweet HiPP Pouches for his breakfast and have his usual banana on the side. He practically inhaled the apple, cherry and banana breakfast pouch, I think we can definitely say he was a big fan. I tried to let Alex choose our outfits for the day but he ended up just throwing clothes all around the room and I had to intervene.

Enjoying his chosen breakfast

Next it was time to decide what to do for the day, library or park are the usual choices and we ended up going to play on the slide as Alex definitely got more excited when I said ‘slide’ than when I said ‘books’. At lunch time I set out all the HiPP pouches at let Alex decide which he wanted to eat, he grabbed the fruity porridge, blueberry, banana and muesli with yogurt AND the creamy vegetable and fish pie. I let Alex have a taste of them all, he definitely preferred the sweet ones but as the HiPP savoury pouches contain zero fruit so they actually taste savoury, I am not surprised my sweet toothed little man turned them away, especially after gobbling up the fruity ones first (rookie mistake!). Alex is going through an extremely fussy stage at the moment with his eating though, picture a floor covered in bits of food and sauce splatters and that’s my house every single day at dinner time. After trying out his selection of HiPP Pouches for lunch it was time for Alex’s nap (this is non negotiable, even on a toddler takeover day!) and when he woke up I let him choose which books he wanted me to read – Spot the Dog, ten times in a row – and then it was time to pick Leo up from school. Letting my one year old take charge for the day was fun but I am glad he hasn’t learnt to talk yet, I think things would have gone very differently if I’d been asked to let Leo be in control of what we did for the day.

Story time with the HiPP Buddies

Along with the baby food pouches, Alex was also sent a selection of story books all about the HiPP Buddies and their adventures on the HiPP Organic Farm. Each book has a fun little story and features all the HiPP buddies characters, we sat and read them together and even Leo joined us for story time too. The books are a lovely way to get to know the HiPP Buddies characters and were perfect to snuggle up with after lunch.

Mine are past this stage, but you ahem down a lovely review, I must say though I was distracted by the cuteness of your little boy! Wish my boy was still this little #coolmumclub

Mine were both huge fans of this brand. It seems like the range has expanded since we used them. Lots of gorgeous flavours there!

Trixie loved the Hipp organic jars when she was weaning. These pouches look brilliantly convenient. I like the idea of giving your toddler control for that day. That goes against my whole being so it would probably be good for me.

The look like great pouches to have handy especially for on the go and I love the adorable books too which seem like a really useful thing to keep the littles entertained! Thanks for linking up to #coolmumclub with this lovely xoxo

I must admit when we did weaning with Blake we didn’t use any Hipp products. I definitely will try them though if we have another child in the future. They sound very handy for when on the go.
