Timehop: A love hate relationship

Timehop: A love hate relationship

Ahh TimeHop,  the mobile application that took throwback Thursday to the extreme. The app that goes searching through our social media past only to return with gifts in the form of long lost memories and photos we have tried to forget.

I don’t know about you but I am unsure whether I actually like this app or not. Some days I am overcome with happy nostalgia as I look through pictures of old, other days I wish that damn blue dinosaur would stop routing around where it’s not wanted!

My relationship with TimeHop is definitely one of the love/hate kind, here’s why…

LOVE:
I love that it finds pictures of Leo that I forgot existed. I seem to have neglected the ancient art of going to Boots and getting pictures printed, there are more pictures of newborn Leo on Facebook than there are actually hanging up in my house. It’s always a joy to see Leo’s baby face smiling up at me from my TimeHop feed.

HATE:
Baby pictures of Leo make me seriously broody. Not one part of our lives is currently ready to welcome another baby into the world so I get unnecessarily angry at TimeHop for reminding me how much I would love one!

LOVE:
Being reminded of all the nights out with the girls I used to have and finding lovely photos of us altogether.

HATE:
Realising that said girls nights don’t happen as often anymore and when they do we are nowhere near as wild. Also hate the really awful drunken pictures that should never have found their way on to the internet in the first place.

LOVE:
Seeing status updates about uni stress and being glad that part of my life is over. “Still got 2 chapters to write for my dissertation”… unlucky 2012 Wendy!

HATE:
That even though 2012 Wendy was busy studying she still had more of a social life than 2015 Wendy..last Facebook update “So excited for Game of Thrones tonight”..oh how things change.

LOVE:
Seeing holiday snaps and reliving all the beautiful memories in my mind. Recently TimeHop gave me the pleasure of looking through all our wedding and honeymoon photos again as Oli and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary on April 6th.

HATE:
Seeing old pictures of me in a bikini. God I miss that body! I stupidly hated it back then, you didn’t realise what you had 2012 Wendy…give it a few years and you would do anything to get that stomach and those boobs back! Ughh….

LOVE:
That I get to see how much I have grown as a person and discover how much I have learnt about life. Some of the statuses feel as though they were written by someone else. I can definitely see that I have matured from a party obsessed teenager into a young woman who cares about things that actually matter.

HATE:
That some of my old Facebook updates are so cringe worthy it hurts to read them. Seriously..I have no idea why I wrote some of that stuff! “Had a lush weekend with my sexy baby xx”…ahhh!

There you go..my love/hate affair with TimeHop. Do you use this app? How does it make you feel?

And now, to honour #throwbackthursday here are today’s lovely offerings from our little dinosaur friend..

Awww! That picture is precious. 🙂 I have to say I have never used timehop although I have been seeing it all over my fb. I don't even do the throwback posts. Although I do find it interesting, I guess I have a love/hate relationship with it too if I do ever use it. 🙂 #twinklytuesday

It is good for looking at old photos of the kids. Bit stupid to see some of those like and share competition ones.

It has shown me some gems of the kids I'd forgotten. Facebook have a memories bit that does same thing.

Great post. Like the way you love and hate it.

I don't use TimeHop, but I see people using it all the time. I'm always about 5 years behind the times anyway. I suspect that having just gone through an ugly custody battle with my ex, I'm better off without!

Thanks for linking up at #TwinklyTuesday!

Yes I use it and feel exactly the same as you! I love seeing all the old pictures of Zach but it makes me realise just how much he has grown and sometimes I just want my baby back (we too are defo not in a position to have another one yet!). It's a great app but heck yes, I miss that body!! Thanks so much for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday
