5 easy ways to be healthy

I don’t know about you but I am always looking for new ways to keep myself and my family healthy. Since becoming a parent I worry about my health more than ever, I want to make sure I am always eating a balanced diet and I try my best to get Oli and Leo to do the same. With a busy job and hectic family life, it can be hard for Oli to make sure he is eating a balanced diet and looking after himself. For men like my husband, the clever team over at Nuts.com have come up with 5 easy tips for men to follow to help keep themselves as healthy as possible, these tips are great because they can be applied to the whole family too.

So with out further a due , let me hand you over to Nuts.com with their 5 easy ways to be healthy..

5 ways to be healthy by Nuts.com

You can’t retire with enough money to live comfortably unless you’ve planned that in advance. Your health can work in similar ways. People who take care of themselves from the very beginning are likely to have better health in their later years. This is especially true for men, who have a shorter life expectancy than women.

Men’s Health Month exists as a way to raise awareness about how important a healthy lifestyle is. Let’s explore five ways our men can make their health a priority today in order to be healthy tomorrow.

  1. Don’t forget breakfast. Let’s start from the very first step of the day: having a healthy breakfast. Eating pancakes and french toast every morning isn’t the best way for the body to start the day, so you should consider limiting these sugar and carb-laden options for special occasions. Ideally a mix of healthy carbs, lean protein, fruits and veggies is the best breakfast blend. Are you in a hurry? Start your day by quickly whipping up a nutrient-dense Spirulina Smoothie. All you need is spirulina, one banana, fresh spinach, apple juice, crushed ice, and lemon juice. Preparing a smoothie only takes about two minutes and can fill you up with the right nutrients to take on the day.

  2. Go Nuts. Yes, nuts are healthy. Research shows that men who eat nuts tend to have a lower risk of many diseases compared to people who don’t eat nuts. Grab a handful to enjoy as a nutritious snack in order to fuel your brain with energy. When it comes to nuts, the good news is that there’s plenty of choices! Whether you love pistachios or macadamia nuts, you have a variety of options to satisfy your hunger.

  3. Exercise. Staying active is critical for men, especially for those who spend most of their day seated in front of a computer. According to Mayo Clinic, “regular physical activity can help you prevent or manage a wide range of health problems and concerns, including stroke, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, depression, certain types of cancer, arthritis and falls.” If a gym membership is off limits at this time, a run in the park can be be a great way to get active. As an added bonus, being outdoors in nice weather can be a stress reliever!

  4. Chia Power. Chia seeds come from a flowering plant in the mint family that’s native to some areas of Central America. There are plenty of reasons why chia seeds are growing in popularity. They aren’t just easy to add to your diet, they’re also known as a great source of fiber and healthy omega-3 fats. These fats are important for brain health. Chia seeds can help you feel fuller, faster and can ever lower blood pressure.

  5. Catch some zzz’s. Our brain needs at least 8 hours of rest every 24 hours. Our brains aren’t machines, and we can’t pretend that they behave like machines. Especially during the summer, when the sun rises earlier it’s a good time to form better sleep habits.

Sleep and exercise are the things I need more of in my life (unfortunately lack of one inhibits me doing the other). But breakfast I never miss, in fact I’m a regular ‘second’ breakfaster (much like a hobbit)…hmmm, all the more argument for the exercise…#picknmix

Ah I know what you mean, it can be hard to be healthy all the time. Especially if you’re tired and it is just not fair that unhealthy food tastes so good!xx

I’ll admit I skip breakfast every morning bar weekends because we’re out the door by 7am for workids. I don’t eat until my morning break at 10:30 but could definitely do with something to kick start my day #fortheloveofblog

These are such great tips! My husband is always forgetting to take care of himself, so this is an awesome, easy little list to follow! I make him a nice big glass of juice every morning for breakfast, and I really think that starts his day on the right foot. I love adding nutrient dense greens like spinach and kale! However, I have never heard of spirulina before-definitely going to to do some reading! Thanks for sharing <3 #KCACOLS
