A bit about me: Liebster Award

A bit about me: Liebster Award
Thank you for my Liebster Award nomination   Mummy Don’t  Say That (can’t find your name on your blog!). What a lovely community the parent blogosphere is, I am really enjoying getting to know lots of lovely people.
Here are my answers to questions asked by Mummy Don’t  Say That…

1. What made you start blogging?
I started this blog because Leo was taking massive naps in the day and I needed something to keep me occupied. I have always loved writing and if I ever find the time I would love to right a book (ambitious I know!). Also, I wanted a place where I could write about all the ups and downs of parenting and be part of community where we all support each other through this challenging journey.

2. Which post are you most proud of and why?
I would say I am most proud of The To Don’t List. I can find myself worrying about every little thing and in an attempt to become a happier, more positive person I wrote this post. Writing The To Don’t List felt like therapy to me and really helped me to get all my negative thoughts in check and look at them in a new, more positive light. This is the most personal post I have written so far and actually publishing it was really daunting but I am glad I did.

3. How did you decide on your blog name?
Well I knew the only time I would have to 100% commit to blogging would be Leo’s naptime. I love a bit of alliteration, Naptime Chatter would never have sat right with me. As soon as I thought about writing a parenting blog this was the first name to come to mind so to save time and brain power I just stuck with it.

4. What would your dream job be?
I’m not sure. Something creative and fun. The thought of working 8 hours a day in an office really depresses me. I would love to have the money to have my own business..a little family run coffee shop or something similar. Oh I would love to be an author one day too, when I retire from my coffee shop maybe.

5. TV or book?
Book. I am big lover of film and I do love TV but there is no better escapism than a good book.

6. What is your fondest memory?
I have lots of wonderful, happy memories but there are 2 I know will always stay with me. The first is the way I felt when I was walking down the aisle on my wedding day. I was absolutely terrified, I caught Oli’s eye and I had to look away. I knew if I held his gaze I would cry my eyes out and there would be mascara everywhere. I was so overwhelmed by the church full of people but as soon as I saw him I didn’t care and I couldn’t wait to marry him. The second, of course, is the birth of my baby boy. I had a water birth and when Leo arrived I got to pick him out of the water. I will never forget the way he looked staring up at me from the water, it was like he was just swimming around almost as though he didn’t realise he was no longer in the womb.

7. Jeans or dresses?
Always jeans. You will only see me in a dress on a night out.

8. Describe your dream home.
I would love a detached house with a massive garden. There would be atleast 3 large bedrooms and a room in the loft  (I always wanted one of them!). There would be a large kitchen/dining room where lots of happy family times would take place. A nice living room with a fluffy carpet, a large bay window and a proper fire. There would be a big bathroom with a large bath and a seperate 2 person shower. White wallpaper and paint will feature nowhere in the house, our current landlord has gone for the all over magnolia look..I hate it! Hmm and as it’s a dream home it definitely needs a swimming pool for me, private golf course for Oli and a whole floor full of soft play for Leo.

9. What is your favourite sweet treat?
Umm everything! If I had to pick a favourite I would say my mum’s Victoria sponge with buttetcream icing. Even though I use her recipe I am yet to make a cake as good as her, that woman’s got serious skills.

10. What is the most adventurous thing you have done?
I am not an adventurous person at all, so much so that I can’t think of an answer. Right, this is definitely something I need to change..umm let me get back to you!

11. Best family holiday
I would say my best family holiday would be when I stayed on a Dude ranch in Texas with my parents, brother and cousin Jes. It was amazing, horseriding every single day over cliffs and through rivers and forests; I will never forget it. We are having our first family holiday (just me, Oli and Leo) in June. I am both excited and incredibly nervous for this!

So there you have it! I hope you all feel like you know me a little better now.
