My new blogging corner, part 1 – the wishlist

My new blogging corner, part 1 – the wishlist

2016 saw my blog go from just a hobby to something a little bit more serious. Although I am by no means a pro blogger or making a monthly wage from my blog, I have been able to make a bit of extra cash from blogging and hope to continue to do so in 2017.  Currently I am blogging from my PC which is stuck on a tiny table, wedged in the corner of my living room. If I am honest I find it very difficult to concentrate here, the living room is full of distractions and when I find some child free time to blog it can be all too easy to accidently watch TV instead or start tidying up all the toys/baby clothes/general mess littering the living room floor. So, to help me give my blog the love and attention it needs to grow and flourish in 2017, I have set myself a mission to create my own blogging corner. I don’t mean the corner I am currently squashed in now but my own little space in the house, away from the chaos of the living room and somewhere I can sit and type in peace.

Naptime Natter HQ is now moving upstairs to the attic, we have two rooms up there full of junk and there is a perfect little nook in one of them, just waiting for me to transform it into my blogging haven. I have a lot of work to do, it isn’t going to be an easy job but I can’t wait to get started on creating my new blogging corner and documenting it all here. Before I do though, I am writing down everything I would love to have in my new little office, if you are thinking of creating your own space for blogging too I hope you can get some inspiration from my wishlist.

My blogging corner wishlist.

Desk –  I use a computer to blog as my laptop killed itself a few months ago. I need a nice desk, big enough to fit the monitor, keyboard and mouse on but nothing too industrial looking. I am thinking something like this white one from Habitat. I love how chic it looks and the white top would be perfect for using as a backdrop for flat lay photographs. It is possibly a bit on the small size but I could store all my notebooks and diaries  (and junk!) in the little space underneath.

Chair – I am obviously going to need somewhere to sit while I type out all my genius (!) blog posts. I love teal and this chair from Cult Furniture really caught my eye. The pop of colour would really bring my dreary attic to life and make my blogging corner a more enticing place to sit and write. Although it’s plastic it looks a hell of a lot comfier than the old dining room chair I am sat on now!

Blinds – Currently the attic has no blinds and my blogging corner is directly under one of the windows. I am going to need a blind to stop the sunlight glaring on my computer screen and to keep the heat in during the cold winter months. VELUX have a great selection of black out and insulating blinds, I think I would like to keep the colour simple – this grey blind would do nicely.

Pen holder – I swear my pens come to life when I am not looking, I am forever in need of one but they are never where I left them. If I had a place on my desk to store them all then I would no longer waste hours of my life searching for one!  I love this wooden pen holder from Zazzle, the teal and white polka dot pattern would go perfectly with my desk chair.

Wall art – You can’t go wrong with a bit of motivational wall art, especially if you need a bit of inspiration to get your fingers tapping away on the old keyboard. I love this print I found on Etsy, I have never thought of blogging as a superpower before but I love the thought of it. This little print is sure to make me smile and get me feeling motivated every time I sit down to write a post.

Lamp – No desk is complete without a lamp and I just adore this vintage teal table lamp from Wayfair. As well as helping to keep my blogging corner nice and bright, this lamp would make an excellent prop in photos and will also be good to use as extra lighting when taking photos too.

£31.99 Wayfair | Egloshayle vintage teal table lamp

Mug – Is it even possible to blog without a big cup of coffee plonked on your desk? I love getting myself a hot drink and getting comfy ready for an evening of blogging. I don’t have a specific blogging mug though, I think this one from Etsy would be perfect for the job.

That’s it for now, I better stop before I end up having to take out a loan to fund my blogging corner! I will be back with the second instalment of my My new blogging corner series once we have cleared out upstairs, wish me luck!
What do you think of my picks? Are there any home office essentials I have missed? I am open to suggestions and would be grateful for any advice you may have. Where do you blog? Have you got a special place in the house or do you just blog wherever your laptop is? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Ooh I love all of these- I actually considered this desk but the dimensions weren’t right for my space. It will be lovely to have a separate blogging space of your own, you’re so lucky to have the extra room! Best of luck with the makeover 🙂 x #dreamteam

I am absolutely in love with every single one of these choices, especially the picture! I’m also very jealous, an attic hideaway to blog in sounds like bliss, I have to make do with a desk in the corner of our open plan living/dining room so never a moments peace. Can’t wait to see how it turns out x

Some very cute stuff there! How you manage to get it set up soon. You must, must, must get a plant too though! Succulents are small and easy to look after. Or peace lilys are good for cleaning the air and just need regular water! Can’t wait for the next update #DreamTeam

Ah I love it all! I’d so like a blogging corner – at the minute it’s the kitchen table if I want some peace of an evening, or on the sofa while Go Jetters entertains X!

I LOVE that desk. I wanted something very similar but got bullied by my husband into getting something bigger in case he wanted to use it too.
