Another 4 weeks of my pregnancy have flown by and a lot has gone on since my 28 weeks update. There have been some high points and a fair few low points too, pregnancy is a bit of a rollercoaster after all! Here’s what has been going on with me and bump lately. You can also watch my latest pregnancy vlog too if you want to find out more.
32 weeks pregnancy update
How have I been feeling? – Rubbish! Well, I’m better now but when my blood results came back after my 28 week check up with the midwife I found out that my iron levels are low and I’m slightly anaemic. Boo! This was not good news for me as it meant I was going to have to start taking iron tablets. Anyone who has ever had the displeasure of having to take these horrible things will know that they can play havoc with your bowels. Sorry if too much information but, seriously, there were a couple of weeks where I was too scared to go to the loo as I didn’t know what might (or might not) happen. The first lot of tablets I was given also made me feel sick, worse that morning sickness kind of sick, and there was about a week where I just wanted to cry every day they made me feel so ill. I have since spoken to the doctor and he’s put me on a different lot of tablets and I feel so much better, I pretty much feel normal again. Apart from feeling ill for a few weeks I have mostly been fine and I am getting really excited to meet baby boy now, I just want to cuddle him so much already.
Any symptoms? – As my bump is now massive I have inevitably adopted the pregnancy waddle. My pregnancy walk would give the most gangster penguin a run for his money and with 8 weeks left to go it’s only going to get worse. Now I’m in the third trimester I am starting to feel a dip in my energy levels again and I get tired way too easily. I am finding this frustrating as I want to be able to everything I usually do with Leo but sometimes I can’t face getting off the sofa. It wasn’t hard to tell I was ill a few weeks ago as the house was a state, I didn’t have the energy to wash the dishes let alone run the hoover around. I think the nesting hormone is slowly kicking in though as I keep finding myself wanting to clean and throw loads of stuff away, Oli has a strop the other day because I wanted to throw out the DVDs we never watch! I have also started to notice a tiny bit of leaky colostrum from my awesome pregnancy boobs (!), not enough to need breast pads but I can tell they are definitely gearing up for their breastfeeding job starting in approximately 8 weeks time. Oh, I can’t stop going for a wee every 5 minutes either so that’s fun.

Making the most of lazy days in bed while Oli was on annual leave.
Have I done any shopping/preparation? – Yes! We have been really productive this month and have got loads of stuff sorted for baby. We have completely transformed the dining room we never use into a nursery (big reveal on that coming soon), baby has a cot, nappies, wipes and a few cute outfits already. We have also bought an Avent starter set we found in Mothercare with 50% off, this includes 6 bottles, a breast pump, bottle brush and steriliser. I still need to stock up on essentials like bath time products and muslin squares, as well as all the fun things for me like breast pads and nipple cream! This week I am going to get all of Leo’s baby clothes down from the attic and give them all a spin in the washing machine, ready to go away for his little brother to wear.

If I gave in to my cravings I would 100% be eating one of these every day!
What food am I loving/hating/craving – At the minute I am craving anything sweet. I can’t just pop to the shop for bread without buying myself a chocolate bar and spending ages lurking around the bakery counter trying to resist all the cakes. When it comes to meals I have got really fussy, I don’t know if it is the heat but I just don’t want to eat anything. Baby is taking up a lot of room in my belly now too so I am feeling full really quickly. I have been eating quite a lot of salad as I can’t stand feeling bloated as well as lugging around a massive baby bump all day.
Have I had any appointments? – On Friday I had a scan to check whether my placenta has moved from the bottom of my womb, you will know all about this if you’ve read my previous updates. Anyway, the sonographer couldn’t see what she needed on her first try so I was sent away to drink more water to try and fill my bladder so she could get a better look. I went back in feeling like I was going to wet myself but even after turning me pretty much upside down on the bed she still couldn’t tell. I waddled out again, drank some more and on her third try she managed to get a clear view of my cervix (nice!). I felt like she was attacking me with the ultrasound stick thing and poor baby was getting pushed all over the place but the sonographer was able to see. It wasn’t great news, she thought there was no placenta covering the cervix and just as I was about to let out the huge breath I have been holding since my 20week scan, she checked again only to shatter my dreams of a water birth by saying there was still part of the placenta in the way. Noo! I am now booked in for another scan at 35weeks with the consultant, there has to be zero placenta presenting before the baby’s head for me to have a natural delivery so I am really hoping that little bit gets pulled out of the way in the next 3 weeks. A bonus to the scan though was that I got to see baby again, he looks so real now. I was shown his little hands and feet and all the features on his gorgeous little face. It was also confirmed he is 100% a boy so that’s good to know!
Bump at 30 weeks, the 10 week countdown is on!
Have I felt baby move? – After being quiet for most of my pregnancy, baby boy has started to get a lot more active these past few weeks. He is still more of a stretcher than a kicker but the movements are so big now my whole belly moves sometimes. I am able to get hold of his little feet and he loves to kick around just as I am trying to go to sleep. Leo has felt his baby brother move now too which was a lovely moment, a memory I will treasure forever.
What is happening with bump? – So, according to my most recent scan, baby is weighing 4lb 4oz already. He is going to be huge when he is born, Leo was 8lb 4 and I think this little man is going to be even bigger. The sonographer said he looks like a very healthy boy and he has long legs. If the old wives tale is true then this baby is going to be a baldy as I have had zero heartburn. With Leo I had it loads and he ended up with a head full of gorgeous strawberry blonde hair. Not long to go now until we will get to find out what baby boy looks like, I can’t wait.
That is it for this bump update, I will be back again at 36 weeks with news from my midwife appointment and hopefully have some good news to share from my appointment with the consultant.
Are you pregnant too? How is your pregnancy journey going? Anyone had a c section? I would love for you to send me a link to your birth stories so I can start preparing myself.

I’m pregnant with my first and am 30 weeks, it’s going so fast! I have had heartburn so am kind of expecting a little bundle of hair to come out! I can’t wait to be able to feel parts of my baby’s body when they get big enough, at the moment it’s just a lot of wriggling and stretching but it’s as though they know when they’re being watched because they always go quiet when I tell my husband to look! Good luck for the next four weeks, fingers crossed that placenta shifts! #bestandworst
Your bump is so neat! How exciting. Not long no now. Look forward to the next update.#bestandworst

I remember when my wife was around 30 weeks with our little bear. She had similar sickness difficulties to you. Not fun!
Fingers crissued things sort out so you can have the natural birth, if that’s what you want given the size 🙂
Exciting times! I really hope that the placenta moves over the next few weeks; It would be nice for you to have all birth options available to you. If I ever think I’m ready for a second, reading about your lack of energy reminds me I’m not actually quite there yet. Although I’ll be jealously reading when your new little person arrives 😀

You look so neat for 32 weeks! I too had low iron, and a low lying placenta that didn’t move until the last second in my first pregnancy. She was then breech anyway so the water birth idea went out of the window entirely! I hope the last eight weeks fly by 😉 Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday

Aw I had low iron too and it is so tough, I was falling asleep all the time 🙁 Sorry to hear you have to go back for another scan in a few weeks, but I’m sure it’ll all be okay. Hope the next 8 weeks go well for you lovely xx #anythinggoes

Oh you poor thing – I know exactly what those horrid tablets are like. I took them from 28 weeks and they made my sickness so much worse. Interestingly, the Pregnacare tablets a lot of people take have iron in them and can make morning sickness worse as a result too. You’re looking great though if it’s any consolation! Thanks for sharing on #fortheloveofBLOG x

Aww lovely update, glad you got the iron sorted, being anaemia is horrible but iron tablets are equally as bad. I hope the placenta moves some more for you. Thanks for linking to #picknmix
