When it comes to biscuits and sweet things, I am a teeny tiny bit addicted. I am that person who doesn’t stop at just one biscuit, if I have opened a packet in the morning there is a very good chance I will have scoffed every last one of them by the time bed time comes. Pregnancy has not suppressed this love of biscuits, I would say being pregnant has actually exacerbated my sweet tooth. Instead of craving weird things like lumps of coal or whatever, my dominant pregnancy craving has simply been all the sweet things.
I try not to act on these cravings all the time as I want to make sure baby boy is getting the best possible food and I am not turning him into a baby made of cookies and chocolate. When I stumbled across Boobbix on Instagram and they offered to send me some of their Bumpbix cookies, specifically made for pregnant ladies, I could not have been happier. I can eat biscuits and they are actually doing my growing bump some good? It was like a dream come true for my inner biscuit junkie.
A bit about Boobbix
Boobbix lactation cookies were created by mum Katie who wanted to find ways to boost and maintain her milk supply while breastfeeding her baby daughter. After finding it difficult and expensive to buy lactation cookies from the US, Katie decided with the help of her chef brother to create her own UK brand of cookies. The biscuits are made from mostly organic and free range ingredients and there are no added preservatives, making them a healthy snack option as well as being good for your milk supply.
As well as their lactation cookies, Boobbix have also created Bumpbix cookies especially for pregnant women. These cookies are full of vitamins and minerals to support a healthy pregnancy and with ingredients full of fibre, folate, iron, calcium and omega 3, they really are a healthy alternative to your regular biscuits.
So what do they taste like you ask?
They are AMAZING! I was a bit worried that as they are made of things such as chia seeds and sunflower seeds that they may not taste that great but I couldn’t have been more wrong. As soon as I unwrapped my first biscuit I knew it was going to taste good, I good see that it was packed full of dark chocolate chips and it looked a bit like a round energy bar. The second I sank my teeth into the soft chocolately chewy goodness, I was sold. The Bumpbix cookies may be a healthier option but they taste just as good, if not better, as the sweet snacks full of junk that I normally eat.
They not only taste great but they are so filling and do a great job at satisfying my sweet cravings. With Bumpbix, I no longer turn into a crazed sugar fiend when eating biscuits, I am happy after eating just one! If I get hungry before lunch or around mid afternoon, I have been eating one of my bump friendly cookies and have been able to keep my hunger at bay until meal times. The fact that these biscuits are so filling is a great bonus for me as there have been lots of days since becoming pregnant where I have planted myself in the kitchen and just grazed like a greedy sheep all day long.
Well, Bumpbix cookies are seriously tasty, filling, satisfying and they are jam packed full of healthy ingredients, vitamins and minerals. I would say they are the perfect snack to enjoy during pregnancy, I am already planning on buying myself another box as I don’t know how I will cope when this lot run out.
If you love the sound of the Bumpbix cookies or are breastfeeding and want to try out the Boobbix lactation cookies, they can all be purchased from the Boobbix website.
Have you tried the Bumpix or Boobbix cookies? What did you think? Mums, what was the weirdest thing you wanted to eat when you were pregnant? Or does anyone just want to shovel chocolate, cake and biscuits into their face like me? I would love to know 🙂
