We are currently renting but Oli and I often like to play a game of ‘if I won the lottery..’ and something I often dream about is what my dream home would be like. This guest post has three key tips on how you can design a family home that everyone in the family is going to love. I hope you find it useful.

Designing the perfect home for your growing family

As your family grows, you need to put more and more effort into ensuring that they are being looked after in the way that they need to be. There is a lot involved in that, but one of the most important things is going to be that the home itself is suitable for all the family. That is often difficult to make sure of, but as long as you know how to look at this you are going to find it is surprisingly simple to keep on top of. In this article, we will take a look at some of the things that you will want to look into in designing the perfect home for your growing family. As long as you have considered these things, you should find that you are able to design something wonderful.

Size An essential quality is always going to be that the home is spacious enough for all of your family to live in. Without enough space to live in and move around, nobody is going to be all that happy about the family home as it stands. Of course, there are a range of solutions if your home happens not to be that spacious, ranging from the big projects to the small alterations which you can make. If you are in need of some big changes, you might need to think about hiring some residential architects to help you design an extension on your home, getting the permission to build that extension, and then budgeting for it. That is going to make things much easier in the family in the long term. If you just need a little more space, you might want to think about simply rearranging or decluttering the home instead.

Entertainment It’s also going to be important that everyone feels able to spend time in the home and enjoy it as much as possible, and that’s why you are going to have to think about the entertainment that you can provide in the home and whether or not that is currently up to scratch. For many families, this is as simple as having a television and other digital means of entertainment, but it can be anything – arts and crafts, board games, garden toys, or whatever else you can think of and think might be appropriate. However you do it, keeping everyone happy in this way is always going to be important.

Cleanliness It is also just as important to make sure that the home is being kept clean. A clean home is one that is going to support the health and wellbeing of all members of the family much more directly, so this is something that you will certainly want to think about too. Good cleanliness means that you need to make sure you keep on top of your cleaning rituals, but remember that if your kids are old enough you can ask them for help too. You will find that it’s going to be much easier if everyone works together.
